A bit of background first.
I backed the game in 2014, played until 2015-2016 (ish) when I decided it was time for a break. It lasted until just recently.
Since I sat myself down in the commander's seat again I have been quite busy with catching up with all this newfangled stuff like guardians, engineers and getting my puny fleet in order.
The thing is, I did all this engineer unlocking and material collecting on my own since I did not see any point in doing it in a wing or squadron. But I am a social player at heart, and in previous MMOs I have always gravitated to a support role (healing, buffing and whatnot). So if I am going to be of any use to a squadron, the support role must be a viable slot to fill.
So I guess that is my question - is the supportive wingmember a viable asset in the game right now, or am I better off on my own?
