Anyone else's VR stopped working?

I've just tried to load up and all the HMD settings for my Odessey game have gone, and the game is refusing to start in my VR headset... Is this happening for anyone else?

I don't use Elite in VR, but my HTC Vive does have an issue when I restart Windows without having the control thingamajig connected (I keep it disconnected when I don't use the headset so it doesn't hijack the audio settings 24/7).

Weirdly, I use an Oculus Quest 2, but suddenly Elite is trying to start Steam VR and I have never played the game through Steam. This has just started tonight. And when I logged in on flatscreen, I was ouot in space, where I definitely left the ship docked. So that's odd...

I have the game on Steam, but when I run the launcher manually, it always starts SteamVR. That said, a lot of stuff (including SteamVR) tends to update automatically, so maybe you've been hit by some obnoxious update.

My VR still "works" as of update 5, but, I've moved on to No Man's Sky for the next few months to a year while they get E : DO sorted out. Sure don't like the artwork and lack of realism one bit in NMS but it's otherwise very very playable - especially in VR. It's unplayable in 2D/keyboard/mouse/gamepad/whatever but VR "makes " NMS just as VR used to "make" E: D. Sure hope Fdev gets E: D all sorted out.

Oculus Home fires up for me still, even though I disconnected the headset late in the Alpha (FSS not working right in the Rift). Game still runs fine for me in flatland.

:D S

Yeh, I got it running in flatland, but as soon as I try to switch it to VR, SteamVR fires up with the Oculus software and screws everything up :(

OK, so I uninstalled SteamVR and that didn't work. I've reinstalled the Oculus software on my PC and not only did that not work, but now I have no audio over the Link or Air Link when playing on the PC..
Also I now can't get Elite out of pancake mode as everything I do just leaves me with a black screen, unless I tell it to set for pancake mode... Not a happy camper :(

That really sucks man. The audio should be a setting inside the oculus software. Click on devices, click on the name of your headset next to the picture (Quest 2 and touch?) and the audio settings are there. I don't have anything other than sympathy on the other problem. Maybe try wiping the whole directory and reinstalling Elite?

I actually switch audio in windows by clicking on the speaker in taskbar next to the clock. I pull up windows mixer and then direct things where I want them between my headset and speakers.

Rebooted everything and finally got the audio working. Then figured out the next problem was how to get the game out of fullscreen mode as that really s up the Oculus. Managed to get into it often enough to set it to Windowed 1024x768 and now it seems to be working fine...

That was a nightmare few days...
