Wanted status - no way to clear (odyssey)

After a botched illegal mission in a settlement, I became wanted. It appears, however, there is no way to clear the status.
Tried landing at the settlement to pay the fine/bounty. Nope - nothing in the admin contacts say I have a bounty.
Tried an IF in a nearby system - again no fines or bounties showing.

I'm perplexed. Makes future missions at this site, and a few other's in my region much more difficult as the status won't reset (security scans are now a nightmare). I'm slowly accumulating multiple sites where I'm wanted!

Anyone else having this issue - or have I missed something obvious?

It looks like ground settlements are their own jurisdiction. If you land at it the only way is to turn yourself in. You cannot clear bounties from other stations in the system even if they have IF. In addition you cannot also clear bounties at IF controlled by the issuer of the bounties. Once you clean your bounties you need to relog to have the wanted status disappear.

Half thought design if you ask me.

In some cases, you might need to relog to clear the bounty after you've paid it off at an Interstellar Factors.
It's sometimes a "poke the transaction server" issue, because I've also had the bounty status update after loading the mission board or commodity market. But definitely a lot of the confusion I've been seeing in various places has been due to the changed IF behavior to now only working where the issuing faction isn't present (which, IIRC, is how they were always supposed to have worked).

You don't have to travel any set distance away. You just need to find the nearest IF at a station that is not controlled by the faction that has the bounties on you.

Also, sometimes, even after paying them off, you'll need to relog for them to be gone for good. This is new as of odyssey and should get fixed...eventually.

This may be a related issue. I had bounties that I could not pay off because they were not recognized by the IF. I loggged out of Odyssey and into Horizons and paid them off. Logged back into Odyssey and was good to go.

This game needs more quirky work-arounds to make it function than a government IT system.

Is the thing with needing the issuing faction to not have a presence in the system a new requirement, or have I just been lucky all these years? I rarely get bounties (I'm so clean I squeak when I disembark) but all I've ever done is gone to the nearest IF and paid them off. Never had an issue. Are the rules slightly different if you pay it off as soon as it's incurred? The IF is normally the first station I dock at after getting the bounty notification.

I believe it is the new crime & punishment system Fdev is trying to implement in Odyssey, of course it is still faulty or needs to be explained better. You can't pay off a bounties in a IF system with faction which set bounty on you is present. That is why you need to fly farther away, other option is to log in to Horizons and you can pay off your bounties with no problem right where you are, as soon as it is a IF system. Be care with that too, Odyssey and Horizons have separate IFs, some systems have IFs only in settlements and you wont find one in Space Stations.

It's new with Odyssey. In Horizons you could pay off bounties even if the faction that wanted you was present.

But on the plus side you can now claim Bounty Vouchers for factions that aren't present in the system. Probably a bug, but still... :)

I think this happens if you pay on foot. (I assume the game thinks the ship is still hot until you relog)

If you pay the IF from the ship it seems to clear both. Or I might just have been lucky.

I’m just getting started with O, attempted about 15 T0 missions, completed 1.

One mission, an npc scanned me about 27 times in 2 min. The 27th time, she didn’t ask to scan me immediately so I tried to run…I heard her ask to scan me just as I turned and took 2 steps, I stopped and turned back around just long enough for her to shoot me in the face.

I woulda rather they made us wait another year than stumble around in this complete mess.

No mans sky initial realize wasn’t anywhere NEAR this bad…I played it, a lot, from day 1, and really enjoyed it through the bugs.

This here…this is a complete and utter embarrassing fail.

Suppose I’ll head back to Warframe and spend this huge pile of money I’ve been saving for arx…on PLATINUM.
