compareing ED and SC to films

NMS reminds of of Star Trek on one level (TOS planets), but it also reminds me of Stargate, because once I progress to a certain level, I tend to use the portals and teleportals more than actual ships, which gives it a Stargate feel. SG-1 also had some weird aliens, ships of all sizes, and "ancients" with a mystery to solve. Now if only the sentinels were Egyption-dressed people with glowing eyes, the comparison would be complete!

(And in contrast, I wish more planets in SG-1 were "alien" and not just another copy-n-paste of North American woodlands)

Oh, and languages! I forgot the languages! I get to play Daniel Jackson in trying to learn dialects (until SG-1 threw that away a couple episodes in and everyone including aliens spoke fluent English).

It's fairly widely considered to be the worst film ever made - and therefore has a huge cult following who appreciate its "so bad it's good" motif.
Plan 9 definitely falls into the so bad its good category, which in my book automatically takes it of consideration for the the worst film ever.

If I were to compare ED to anything it would be Red Dwarf: older ones are better with the modern remake just capitalising on nostalgia to the extent it disillusioned long-term fans.

I decided to rewatch B5 recently. That show did not age well, I quit after 10 mins of facepalm.

I'm half way through the 4th season of my 28376th rewatch (and the first in glorious HD). First season is a bit hit and miss, but I'm also watching it alongside DS9 which was produced at the same time - and both shows have aged superbly. Maybe DS9 has aged slightly better, but it had a huge wealth of lore to draw on (plus it cost roughly twice as much per episode to make).

B5 was always "the little show that could".

Anyway, as you were.
