Ships My first Thargoid Scout hunter ship

Just starting AX hunting. This is my first ship to hunt Thargoid Scouts. https://s.orbis.zone/fv0o
Works really well against scouts. I tried to replace one AX MC with 3B efficient PA. Three PAs pop scouts so fast that sometimes I cannot evade caustic cloud.
Elite NPC pilot helps to keep a scout engaged that I can easyly hit it with PAs though SLFs are not last too long with thargoid fight.
PAs help to burn out caustic stuff from the hull. I don't have any guardian weapon unlocked yet.
The hull with caustic stuff on it loses 1% every 30 sec.

Is there a question here?

Almost any ship can shred scouts if you can put a couple of large turreted AX MCs on. Don’t even need engineering for that really.

The trick with caustic clouds is to not fly directly towards the scouts when they pop.

I have a similar build. Works well. My main difference is I have 4 turreted (yes I know) AX multis with 1 fixed advanced multi. Admittedly I don’t normally load the advanced multi with ax ammo because it’s not necessary. I also have a decon limpet and a size 5 cargo because of those pesky corrosive gas clouds. Other components are very similar. I like it.

Turreted AX MCs are basically the meta for scout massacres unless you are well versed in the use of gauss cannons (and even then turreted AX MCs are more convenient). They’re really only really bad against interceptors while fixed AX MCs are difficult to keep on target for something as nimble as a scout.

Against interceptors, AX MCs suffer a lot (particularly turreted but also fixed) due to low dps.

Yeah, I've figured it out. Flying now to a guardian site for weapon blueprints.

agree on meta. but still I hang my head in shame when I say I use turrets on this ship.

I'm about to unlock the Class 2 GGC, just need to find those darn Magnetic Emitter Coils.

I should also be unlocking the Guardian Module and Hull Reinforcements soon, once I get the GGC situated. Not sure I have all the mats for that yet though.

I spent the weekend running two guardian sites and just got back last night.

Always unlock both classes of gauss cannons at the same time as some ships will use both. It saves you a trip to Guardian space.

GMRPs are better than regular MRPs, but GHRPs are generally worse than engineered regular HRPs. There is a slight benefit to small GHRPs (sizes 1 and 2 mainly) through the caustic resist, but most ship will have the small slots reserved for other modules so they see little use.

Saweet build. Always nice to see alternate builds that look good. I was never one to follow the meta crowd.
Plasma chargers are generally bad and an SLF is pretty useless in an Interceptor fight. The meta is the meta for a reason. However, fly what you want and find fun as long as you are aware that you're gimping yourself.

Could have burned off the the caustic effect by silent running. Scouts are good fun if you try to take them out with Guardian gauss cannons although the meta and quickest way is the AX multi cannons as has been said.

Yup, would do that between fights but not when already heading back. :)

I've always used fixed AXMCs on the Scouts, I'm getting fairly reasonable at sniping them with Gauss which speeds things up a bit.
Also used Shards on occasion though it's harder to dodge the acid cloud like that.

The only time I am really facing scouts nowadays is in ax czs and gauss is the only viable option then. Fixed axmcs of course work if you have a ship that is agile enough and good aim. Turrets are the meta for scout farming because they do a lot of the aiming work for you.
