Right ... left field question. I play ED on PC using the Frontier Launcher, from Frontier store. Am toying with the idea of starting an alt account possibly using Steam. Does anyone know if that would inevitably end up being a seperate, duplicate install or is there any way to direct a Steam account to an existing install?

I had a frontier account then transferred that account to Steam to make full use of VR a few yeras ago - at that point, the Frontier account links to your Steam account to allow you to launch from Steam, but the Steam account still uses the Frontier launcher.Right ... left field question. If you purchase another instance of the game through Steam, I assume you'll have 2 separate instances you can play... hopefully Brother @Rat Catcher will chip in as I seem to recall him saying he runs 2 Elite accounts...

Actually it's wrong. It was Bob. You don't know about Bob because when they plugged him he had a serious mental breakdown and ended up in an asylum. They never spoke of it to Neo.
Also, Andrew took the other pill, and we don't talk about him either.

It would be a duplicate install - I have 3 installs of ED (on 3 drives) for Frontier, Steam & Oculus
The 'new' steam launch for ED is only able to launch from steam, so if you want cosmetics in the future you'd have to buy steam currency first!
Also if your steam account is the same email address as your main, you'd need to make a 2nd steam account with an alternate email address:
e.g. Current is fredbloggs@gmail.com (this works best on gmail)
'new': fred.bloggs@gmail.com
Those, as far as Frontier is converned are individual accounts even though gmail treats them as the same.
