Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Missed a trick there. For the low, low cost of $50 a month you could discuss SC in the Evocati thread, or for just $25 a month head to the Concierge thread ;)
You can't join in the ETF chat for any amount of money, it's not a 'buy your way in there' kinda thing, you could be a starter package backer and still qualify for evocati...concierge chat and forum section however, is exclusive to concierge backers only...even evocati can't get in there unless they're also concierge. $10 or $20 subscribers get their own chat and forum section on Spectrum too.

The peasants get everything that isn't subscriber, concierge or ETF...a bit like here ;)

Those Operating Thetan levels were always a bit confusing.

I think people are over thinking this, I was just suggesting Frontier could make a little extra bunce by charging for fictitious fora. Just a bit of fun :)

Well, they did charge 10EUR extra for Odyssey Evocati :)
We used to have to pay for ED beta testing as well...I think 2.4 was the last pay to play beta, I can't really remember. It used to be £5 to enter the beta testing, we got an exclusive beta tester ship badge as well at one point. I still sport the 2.4 beta award badge on my ships since it was the last active beta I took part in. I can't remember for the life of me why 2.4 beta had the testers award badge...couldn't have been RNGineers, that was 2.2 or something...multi-crew or wing play perhaps, with the badge having the 3 ships on it. The 2.4 patch was titled 'The Return'...Thargoids and mission stacking were in that one... I think....really can't remember 🤷‍♂️

Star Citizen has depth, Elite Dangerous has breadth. I would like somewhere in between, ED UI is so dated and horrible now compared to SC.

Dated? It looks like they let some intern fresh out of university full of ideas that have been drilled into him by the latest course in modern UI design. You know the sort of stuff. That is hailed as the next revolution in UI design but is universally hated by users.

The sort of thinking that gave us the Windows 10 "Settings" menu (and loss of actual ability to change anything useful) and the Microsoft "Ribbon" - yes, i'm still salty about that one, more than 10 years later.

Wait, what ? You can do more than posting screenshots and roleplay / pretend non-existing gameplay ?
Could you, for instance, create a mining corporation, establish mining operations, with paid fighter escorts (through sub contracts), pay employees with a share of the revenues created by the refining of materials owned by the corp, and then make further profit by creating products out of these materials and send them on cargoes also owned by the corp ? All of this managed in-game of course with in-game mechanics, corpo/guild chat, etc.. (just giving an example of gameplay with "depth", that's of course at least two existing games i know)
Or by "depth" you mean you can walk onboard your ship and look at all the nice 3D assets with zero function and pretend you're a space merchant ?

SC's UI is 'getting better' in some ways...going backward in others. For the ship UI, setting your ship course on the fancy holographic wristwatch is plain ridiculous...but Chrissy boy wanted that fancy schmancy watch. I much preferred the old pre-Mobiglas system where you plotted the course on the ships holographic starmap.
