What is your absolutly most wanted missing animal?

As some of you might know, i have been quite vocal about the topic what i want most and i was asking myself what animals you guys want most and why?

Mine is, low and behold, the european fallow deer!
But why you might ask, well the answer is simple.
There are some good reasons for me why i want the fallow deer more then any other deer or anyother animal for that matter.
  • Its an european animal, we are lacking european animals, every european animal is a big +
  • We are overall lacking animals from the palearctic (and neoarctic for that matter) especally herbivores, having only 1 endemic to the palearctic in the game and only 8 in both
  • Its a common zoo animal, third most common in the EAZA
  • Im a german and its a keyspecies to build our local fauna zoos, the "Wildparks". Another keyspecies would be wild boar, red deer and small european carnivores + racoons
  • It is a deer, a very wildspread animal family, living everywhere besides subsaharan africa and oceania and we only have 1, which is a crime imo. I would atleast want one more small deer (muntjac, pudu, others that i dont know), the moose as the biggest, the red deer as the most culturally important and the fallow as it is the most common
  • It is a common petting zoo animal, something we are lacking. They are very common in walkthrough habitats and would be as far as i know the biggest suitable walkthrough we currently have in the game.
  • It just is a beautiful animal and quite distinct from the other deer species

So take a look at my favourite deer friends and allways remember to bring some carrots or apels with you, and they will flock to you (in zoos where its allowed. If not its a huge jerk move to feed the animals and even though they are calm and friendly, dont be the stupid one that approaches them in the wild and spooks them)!

For me it's an easy choice - Tasmanian devil
  • Due to the horrific impacts of Devil Facial Tumour Disease, the Tasmanian devil is a species whose survival has depended heavily on captive populations in recent decades, and as such its addition to Planet Zoo would be highly relevant for conservation reasons.
  • In a similar vein, it's undoubtedly one of the most essential animals for building an Australian zoo still missing from the game, its only competition being the emu. Due to admirable efforts to establish a large and viable captive insurance population, almost every zoo I've ever been to has had devils, always multiple.
  • While less omnipresent outside Australia, they are still found in select zoos throughout much of the world unlike many other rather "niche" animals, and therefore they could still be used by a large majority of the playerbase.
  • No one argues against the fact that both marsupials and Australian animals are categories sorely lacking representation in the game, and the Tasmanian devil is among the most unique choices in regards to both.
  • Also a small mammal, another area of the roster that needs fleshing out.
  • The devil is completely unlike or unrelated to any animal we have in the game. It would bring representation for another order of mammals, Dasyuromorphia (which also happen to be my favourite group of animals), and is the only marsupial outside of Diprotodontia with a good chance of making it in.
  • No species occurring in Tasmania have been added to Planet Zoo so far, so why not its most iconic?
  • With the dingo already in the game, Australia's other mammalian apex predator would help round up the continent's carnivore roster nicely.
  • To wrap it all up - as a marsupial, it would get a new pouch animation and who doesn't want to see that?

The deer is beautiful (all deer are). And Taz is adorable.

For me, the only animal that i can retire from the game happy would be the NA gray fox. Reasons:

  1. My favorite living animal (it's a tie between these and thylacines)
  2. It has a gorgeous silver color with brown-orange markings. I love them
  3. It can climb trees, which wouod be awesome to have in-game
  4. It's a fox, and we all want nore foxes. Top 2 are red and Arctic, but I'm hoping this little guy gets added

Capybara

The world's largest rodent, and we have zero rodents in the game so far
Very visually unique from anything else in the game
South American's arguably second most iconic non-avian animal, with the jaguar being the only one that is ahead of it
They've become a meme and about to become a star species thanks to Disney (this is not so much in seriousness to the game but it's still true)

Lar Gibbon:
1. Last ape to be added
2. Unique appearance and sexual dimorphism makes them more interesting
3. Fastest tree animal (up to 55 km/h)
4. Their agility could let to have insane animations.
5. Fairly common in zoos across all globe
6.. Fun to watch
7.. Easly can be face of the dlc, because they are so appealing.

For me, it's the Red deer! So I had to smile when I saw your Fallow deer ;)

majestic-red-stag-in-yellowing-autumn-meadow-picture-id140157656

Reasons:
  • Red deer are icons of European nature.
  • Red deer are one of the most impressive species in the European wilderness, barring the Moose, Wisent, and European brown bear.
  • Red deer are famous, culturally important, and prized throughout the centuries all across Europe.
  • Red deer have a wide range, from Scandinavia and Great Britain all across Europe all the way to the Middle East.
  • The only deer species we've got in the game so far is the Reindeer. We definitely need better deer representation. Like König, I think deer representation won't be complete until we've got Red deer, Moose, and Fallow deer in the game.
  • My European zoo sections will revolve around Red deer, and my zoos wouldn't be complete without them.
  • We already have Red deer statues in the game!
  • And let's not forget: Disney's Bambi was a Red deer ;)

There are few sights more awe inspiring than seeing an ornate big Red deer stag.

Super tough choice. So many animals I’d love to see in game yet many popular and heavily requested and many non popular and little requested animals. I guess the black rhino would be my top animal right now. We got the southern white rhino👍 But now I’d love to see these guys for a quiet secluded spot in my zoos.

California Sea Lion for me. It hit me hard the seal was chosen instead of it, but I still hope we will see them in NA pack. Intelligent, playful and super cute. I find they way of moving on land on their flippers adorable. Also a second pinniped, which is more tropics tolerant would be nice.

That's quite a tough question, to pick just 1 animal to be the most wanted. There are like 3-4 animals that would fit this position, but the one that stands out to me is the Moose. The Moose is such a massive, elegant, gentle giant. It provides so much into a zoo, I cant explain it, but they just do. They're also such symbolic animals of not only Canada and the Northern United States, but of all of North America. Ironically, I'm actually wearing a shirt with a Moose on it right now! In fact, I have 2 shirts with a Moose on it! They're one of my favorite animals to (no duh), but the Red Panda still reigns number 1 for me, but who knows maybe Planet Zoo can change that... probably not lol.

Edit: And I literally just saw a commercial on TV with a Moose on it the second after I published this post. If that's not a sign, I dont know what is!

Red River hog
1. My favourite animal of all times.
2. Beautiful coloration
3. Adorable ears
4. Supercute piglets
5. Would fit perfectly to my Congo exibits
6. They are a great company to many different species in mixed exhibits

Iberian lynx

Iberian_Lynx_mother_with_her_cub_watching.jpg

1. Great conservation and reintroduction programme
2. We lack Mediterranean and European animals
3. Unique look with that beautiful face
4. We need more medium size cats
5. It's becoming more common in zoos (already present in Spanish, Portuguese and French zoos)

While I love the Iberian lynx, I always fell weird about inclusions which are very rare in zoos, because it kinda breaks immersion to me.

I felt the same way about the Proboscis monkey.

It was actually really difficult to choose which single species I would want most but ultimately I always came back to my old favourite, the yellow throated marten:
  • It would add another small (<20kg) carnivore to Planet Zoo, which remains an under-represented group of animals; only three of the twenty-five Carnivora currently in Planet Zoo are in the smaller size bracket
  • They are not that rare in zoos - in the EAZA region there are thirty-three zoos that keep them as well as a number of zoos in their native Asian range; there is still, I believe, one zoo in America that keeps them as well
  • They can be kept in a diverse range of enclosures ranging from small netted or mesh-roofed enclosures to huge open-air woodland exhibits like the 700 square metre space at Nuremberg Zoo in Germany (as in this picture:https://www.zoochat.com/community/media/yellow-throated-marten-enclosure.395088/full)
  • They are extremely active animals in real life and as such they seem well-suited to the current style of the game, where all the animals show high activity levels
  • They are very competent climbers and will hang upside-down from branches by their back legs or cling to the underside of branches with all four feet; they would add another smaller-sized climbing animal to the game
  • Unlike most mustelids these are a social animal that normally lives in pairs or trios but has been recorded in groups of up to seven adult animals; this would allow for a more active and interesting display animal
  • Despite their small size, they are top predators in the wild and are able to kill prey much larger than they are, including small deer and monkeys; this would add an interesting and little-known predator species
  • Yellow throated martens are found across Eastern and Southeastern Asia and occupy all the major forested biomes (taiga, temperate and tropical) so could fit in with many different Asian habitat areas
  • Finally, they are one of the most strikingly-colourful of all mustelids and would add a species with a colour scheme quite unlike anything in the game at the moment

I actually support this. A bit niche, but an amazing animals nevertheless. They would require a better climbing system to do them justice.
