State of the Game

Interlude:
"covert" missions where you have to avoid triggering alarms get absurdly easy
after you find out that close range killing NPCs from silenced plasma shotgun doesn't trigger alarms, it doesn't even get you bounty if no one else is looking.

Stunning them with electric thing wasn't that efficient.

So I just went into CMD building, killed NPCs one by one (didn't even care to sneak at them from behind, just ordinary executed them face on), turned alarms off, went to IND building, killed NPCs that were walking in the room I had to steal the sample from, went out, and calmly walked towards my SRV.

Mission accomplished, no bounty.

EDIT: w8, I just realised this is an anarchy system... Still, I have no bounty, no fines after this... careless approach.

yea, anarchy has no bounty ...so that's not surprising.

the balance to this easy careless approach is the C&P you get in normal non-anarchy systems.
But in Fdev fashion, they completely missed how this balance affects anarchy systems.

Anarchy systems should be much...much harder to fight in than non-anarchy systems. You should have much harder npcs to deal with.

if fdev had the people making game decisions such as this actually play the game, this kind of thing would be discovered before it ever made it to public release and corrected. Because it's extremely obvious and a basic aspect of the new gameplay that they would have had to go over.

Well, in the same system in previous mission the whole settlement rushed to attack me after I "buzzed" an NPC in a room when we were alone.
AND I got fined in this this mission instantly after my 1st stun..

IDK if something is off with stunner, or with silenced Intimidator.
Or maybe stunner is not considered "silent"?

same period? different controlling faction could have existed in a previous period that was non-anarchy.

though, if you failed the mission, i think you can get fines from that in some cases. I think if they involve some kind of cargo transfer especially.

(it's been a long time since i've been anywhere in the game that had stations and npcs )

I made both over the last two hours.
And I did not fail the mission - somehow alarms were not triggered even though I managed to alert other NPCs before I turned alarms off.
I guess it's gonna be "trial and error" to "reverse engineer" how those missions and AI logic actually work.

Well, nowadays getting credits is ridiculously easy, so a couple hundred thousand Cr is practically free.

BTW, there was a free Eagle for some level/timeframe of backing/(pre-)purchasing with a spiffy paintjob.
But I sold it, 40k Cr was big money back then!
The Mercenary pre-order just before game launch. I bought it.

you know what i love about hulu live?

i love how the commercials are like 15 decibels louder than the show you're watching.

and i love paying out the rear for it.

Give it 25 more years and TV ads will be gone - i know not many of my generation who have a TV or watch TV at all. The reason for not watching TV are ads. i cannot even remember when I last watched TV, must have been when I still lived with my parents 17 years ago or so. I never owned an own TV set and see no reason to buy one. i do watch TV series though - ad free and in bulk - like 2-3 seasons in a single go. Ads steal lifetime, we shouldn't allow this to happen. Passive entertainment is in decline.

When I look at my current adblocker statistics, the current version has blocked over 600,000 items - 600,000 which didn't steal my time nor bothered me.

I think it'll go the other way. 25 more years and every display will have a camera that watches your eyes and pauses the program until you are watching (with audio and volume up) and ads are un-skippable and unavoidable.

and with dns over https and other content services used to stream all stuff putting the ads on the same domain as the real content, along with ipv6 ...there will be no means of filtering any ads.

All the extra bandwidth of 6G will be going to ads.

Good morning, Thread.
The morning is too early, as always. Green tea is good.
Still holding a grudge against the weather. Air's barely breathable.
Brain working at low capacity.

Just chased this conversation all the way back because I've been so, so busy with meetings all day but.......................A MkV Cobra?! As in 5??
Oh! Hi!
Welcome to the Thread. It went a bit stale over the last few weeks, but usually it's the nicest, most benevolent and crazy place on the forum. Grab a cookie, some tea or coffee and make yourself at home. :)
