Settlement defense plans and realisation of lack of EDO gameplay content

I've not found even one of these since playing Odyssey, and I've played since the start. I've raided command buildings as a matter of course, and every irregular marker with threat level (1-3) has a SRV wreck and I've never seen one with a downed skimmer to even get a chance of finding SDPs. I have notice that now all irregular marker sites regardless of threat level has three containers. Not sure if that is a factor or not, but it's got to a point where I've almost lost interest in playing EDO, because let's face it the actual content of EDO is upgrading your weapons and suits, without that there is hardly any reason to visit a settlement at all.

Yep, same thing. Didn't play since the start because it was completely broken but today, I have 0 plans. I learned that Irregular Markers (with skimmer) can give this data but now you cannot relog anymore and they are rare.

So I think if I were to go from planet to planet searching each time for new Irregular Markers with specific skimmer layout and hoping to RNGJesus that it spawns, I would unlock the engineer in probably a month... or more depending on how much you play. Thats why I given up on it.

You need the Irregular Markers with threat [1] that have 2 containers and a crashed skimmer. Ignore the 3 containers which are threat [2] or [3] and have SRV instead. Relog still works by exiting to desktop. I've downloaded a few from Security ports in CMD buildings in Military settlements and even more rare there were some missions at the terminals "Download SDP from settlement" which after retrieving them I abandoned the mission but kept the SDP. I also agree having to use relogging sucks and all the difficult to find materials that you cannot trade should have been available from missions...

Thank you.

I am no stranger to grind. Even extreme ones like Mk1 eyeballing but some grind elements in Odyssey are just crazy.

I've seen this type of statement a few times from folks in the forums, and I'd like to understand the mindset more. If you don't find the on-foot gameplay engaging, what do you intend to do with your upgraded suit/weapons once you're done? FWIW I'm not trying to undermine your point - the availability of certain key upgrade mats seems like an issue - but for me I'm actively avoiding rushing the upgrade path because in this case the means is the end.

On the SDPs, Sally mentioned on Friday she's amassed a bunch of info from the community and has taken that internally to look at balance / availability.

It's a bummer. I blazed my own trail through Odyssey (aka doing things my way) and I found 2 SDPs since Odyssey launched.
It's a stupid thing because you have to play Odyssey in a particular way and even then if you find the right combination of data port+building type+settlement type or the correct POI type and all other requirements the RNG can still screw you over. And very often it does.
Sadly, SDPs need to be grinded, you will never ever get 15 SDPs "organically". Or perhaps you would but by the time you collect 15 of them your beard would get in your way of playing the game.

Oh right.

Why did I bother with those Settlement Defence plans...
I‘m still after the headshot damage. It would compliment my noise suppressed G5 Tormentor nicely - the perfect gun to quickly get rid of guards indoors.

But it’s a pain. I had to resort to relogging (or quitting and launching the game again) because it just takes way too long otherwise. 2 SDPs in 3 months of playtime… nope.

I played since the start and I have found 12 so far, including some I stole from mission objectives. Since update 6 I have not found a single one. It seems when they added illegal downloads, SDPs were dropped or buried from command and security data points. They should have stuck with the 5 SDPs unlock requirement from the very beginning.

Yeah, the content of Odyssey has two big problems:

- It's totally disconnected from the existing game (besides exobiology which, despite it's poor implementation, it's the only content integrated with an existing game loop)

- It have the only purpose to have you grind (in a very forced way) suits/weapons upgrades and mods, without presenting much reasons to do that

Another solution would be, as others have suggested earlier, to let the bartender trade goods and data as well. Comparatively easy fix.
Absolutely. But maybe FDev think that would be too convenient for the players and they would even start having fun :)
I will never understand why was this left our in the first place. Especially when you can trade data in Horizons.
These two games are just way too inconsistent.

I've put together some analysis and Sally / the CM team are aware.
TLDR: it would take me 1/3 of a year to get enough SDFs playing organically and not doing anything else.

Probably in the hope to keep players busy until the full release.
Of course they were wrong.
