Ejected backwards from carrier and blown up...

Well that was a new one. I clicked launch, and my Cutter warped backwards at incredible speed before blowing up with the carrier no more than a vanishing dot in the distance.

20.5 million rebuy later and I'm back on board the nearby station (not my carrier??), nervously eying the launch button.

On the plus side I'd just unloaded 792 tons of Coltan into the carrier, and I need 1400t, so the 20 million plus explosion saved me a trip.

(I don't have F/A off - and my throttle was centred. Anyway, a Cutter can't fly that fast - especially not backwards.)

One data point - my carrier is only about 1.4mm from the station right now, and getting closer on its regular orbit of the nearby planet, so there's barely time for me to enter SC before I have to leave again. I've had strangeness in the past (Hoz and Ody) when the carrier is that close to the station - sometimes I emerge from SC and the carrier is zooming away faster than I can catch it.

As you say, most likely the physics got messed up.

Why am I not surprised it's the cutter ? That ship have a serious tendency to do weird stuff when landing/launching.

You should contact support and explain the issue, they'll refund the rebuy. If that's any problem to you.

Thanks, the rebuy is not an issue.

I've been using my fleet carrier extensively since February, trading billions in goods, and this was the first time it happened. I still remember the insta-death collisions with asteroids & other ships in the Alpha, and that's why I delved into the network logs to see if my ship was clipping into the surface of the carrier - but then it's a Cutter, not a Clipper.

I think your carrier pullled off the rather Dangerous Holdo Manoeuvre.
