State of the Game

I learned 2 things: German film makers DO have a sense or humor, und Mein Deutsch ist jetzt nicht gut
the "yet" part is in this case not "jetzt" but "noch" - mein Deutsch ist noch nicht gut.

the difference is this - if you are saying "mein Deutsch ist jetzt nicht gut", it means "in general my german is pretty good, but right in this very moment, it just isn't" - and that is not what you wanted to say, whereas "mein Deutsch ist noch nicht gut" is equivalent to "my german isn't (that) good yet".

"The film depicts events around the German reunification of 1990 and focuses on a group of East-Germans who cross the border to visit West-Germany and get slaughtered by a psychopathic West German cannibal family with chainsaws who want to turn them into sausages."
Hmmm, I was there during reunification. Fun times!...or coincidence?

Apologies, I see your confusion. I was saying that my German is not good "now", as in "it used to be better".

Was trying to use words with which I still have some connection and not get too complicated.
hm, you said it somewhat then, but it just sounds strange for a german to put it that way.

in this case you would say "mein Deutsch ist nicht mehr so gut".

Do you think I should post it in Stellar Screenshots, or do you think I will get a life ban!

Definitely!!! But just the original post with the "origin of the galaxy?" title... no-one can criticise if they something mucky in such a beautiful example of the EDO wondrous planetary generation engine.... 😏

It's German. Beautiful language, but complicated. :)

Kinda like Russian that way. It's all in the nuances. Plenty of different ways to say, essentially, the same thing, but not so many that "sound right".

First basic test run of new rig. Runs Days Gone at 150+ frames at highest settings without breaking a sweat. I'm getting a good feeling about this. And now I done jinxed myself.
Oh well, if that 3070 doesn't cut the mustard on Odyssey, just post it over to me and I'll swap it for a Gold Sample 2080S which I know works brilliantly...

...where would you be without friends like me? :ROFLMAO:

this is a quite good characterization of the german language - very well put. The order of words is very important and there are plenty of ways to order them and each variant of it means something just a little bit different. As a born german I tend to do that in english sometimes as well, which sounds strange to a native speaker - and even worse, I might assume that it would be able to transport the german meaning of this reordering of words - but it just doesn't.

I can't begin to explain how much that means to me ;)

Now I just have to figure if I port it over as Steam or stick to my original Frontier launcher. I've got the two linked already, but I like to be old school. Once I'm past porting my browser settings, email archives and all that "fun" stuff.

Stick to the Frontier launcher - is my opinion - I have all 3 accounts on that (I had one on the 'new' steam launch which is a pain - bought (£20) a fresh account from Frontier on the same email address - picked up from where I'd left off, despite support not being 'sure' it could be done!) 🤭

That's how I feel too. I've seen too many times after an update where Steam users have had trouble (temporary, for sure, they get sorted very quickly) that I've never seen on my "old school" first beta account. :)

But English has it quirks as well - I'm always baffled at words like "westerly" - I'm travelling in a westerly direction = heading west - whereas a westerly wind is heading east and coming from the west - just awkward.
There are plenty like that. Like Worcester Sauce. A wind from the South East is not a South Easterly wind - it's a Sou'easter... And a wind from the north is as Cold as a Witches [little garden bird] or Freezes the Balls off a Brass Monkey - which honestly has nothing to do with genitals.

[hastily consults Google]
Oh yes, the brass monkey was a dimpled brass plate that warships stacked their iron cannon balls upon - in extreme cold weather the plate could contract enough for the cannon balls to fall off...

Oh, everyone knows that, of course! :ROFLMAO:
