"M" does not work to change cockpit mode

I'm only just starting this and am on the mining training.

So far I've got to the rock, deployed the lasers using "U", after turning off the shields.

It then tells me that I am in the wrong cockpit mode and to use "M" to change.

Hitting "M" does absolutely nothing.

Edit, I've checked the controls and it states "M" under change cockpit mode

try this, it may work....in the bindings there are two columns, in the second column for mode change put in 'shift M' ,
it might work. I cant get some commands working without 'modifiers' like using shift etc. G'luck!

You could also try rebinding the action to a different key, then back t M if that works OK, to see if M then works.

Because the training told me to, to lesson the current drain so the laser would fire.

Shift M didn't work, shift changed the magnification of the screen, so I tried adding "7" to it.

It now say to press either "M" or "7" to change cockpit mode, neither works.

The training makes you turn off the shield to reduce power in order to mine, don't know why but it does.

I'll have to try that tutorial again sometime. I don't remember it ever telling me to turn the shields off. It's such a terrible idea.

I would personally recommend you skip that mining training. Having to turn off shields to have enough power plant capacity to fire mining lasers is a sign of a very bad ship build, you probably won't need to do that in the main game. The tutorial will also tell you to scoop up the fragments you mined manually. That's also one of those things that nobody ever does in the main game, everyone uses collector limpets.

Odd that even now the switching it off and on still cures most ills. Still cant use the comms panel in odyssey with my x52pro....which also means no queing for cqc. Bloody annoying.
