Ever tried buying Armour for a ship you're not sat in?

So here's a funny one from Odyssey:

Go to a station and try and buy Armour for a ship that you have elsewhere. (Absolutely great feature btw!) Realise that somebody was having a hard day at work and forgot to add a process that tells you which Armour belongs to which ship.. Hmmm. Eenie, Meenie, Miney... Mo!!

Here is the issue link:

And yes before you ask this also happens with reactive, mirrored etc. Absolutely no way to tell which ship they are for other than a change in price.

Inara, fleet, look up ships spec?
Sorry I think you don't understand. The picture highlights how in the game there is no way to differentiate between the stocked goods in a station if you are trying to buy them for a ship you are not sitting in. Principly the Armour, which is ship specific. A plasma weapon can fit on any ship so it doesn't need extra identification. Armour for a ships hull can only go on that ship.. For instance the Armour for a chieftain will not go on a Mamba... as you can easily see from the pic provided if you try to buy the hull Armour that is available to store and NOT to apply to your ship there ARE the options to buy different hulls ... except it won't tell you which is which. You would have to guess based on price. As the game already knows which hull these Armour packages belong to it isn't a case of the game not knowing, it's a case of the very pertinent information not being displayed to the user.

I hope that clears things up for your misunderstanding.

Ah I haven't checked that.. so there is no description on stored Armour anyway?? is that Odyssey specific or Horizons too?
I don't dare to launch Horizons right now in fear of losing exploration data, but at the least the game journal and/or EDMC are able to pass on that relevant info to Inara.

Always. That's why I usually don't store armour, which are (as far as I'm aware) the only modules that are unique to a certain ship type. So just the correct size alone isn't enough. I always imagined armour to have the same shape as the ship it belongs to.
Wow so this has been an existing problem.. I swear that in Horizons it wasn't there though. I distinctly remember a vulture Armour package that tells me what it is.. how strange. I hope they see this quickly. Sally is a legend, she's our hope in these trying times.. Have punged her in the other thread :)

This is a very good find, hopefully they'll finally fix this, as it was always a problem just with your stored modules anyway.
If memory serves me right, in Horizons, stored Armour modules appear as red/unequippable, or have a warning of sorts that tells you to what ship they apply, but when you buy them it doesn't tell you what they are for, because you are only shown those for your current ship. (Hence the Odyssey bug reported by the OP)

I have learnt it the hard way when I unlocked the Armour Engineer, and I went armour shopping with my Vulture, buying and engineering armour modules for my other ships, only to find out that I had just purcahsed a massive stock of Vulture armour...

Haha..yup! I wonder what it is about the vulture? lol.. I seem to recall that for a long time they didn't have any info in Horizons on it then they eventually tweaked it so that it told you which ship the Armour belonged to when you tried to equip it but now in Odyssey it presents a new prob as you are able to buy these different Armour pieces for other ships and they are there in the shop but the only difference is in price.

Just such a TINY addition of info that is already in the code being displayed will fix this!! Here's hoping they get on it soon. Also if you good people check this out don't be afraid to confirm it using the link at the top.. All we need is ten people who also tick the 'can reproduce' section. Many thanks! (y)

I can't say for sure RIGHT NOW this is not an issue in Horizons but before when I was still quite active I know for a fact the armor modules did say the specific ship they were for and were also tagged as not fitting if you weren't in the appropriate ship for said armor.

I haven't been on in 2 weeks so I can't confirm this is the case currently though
