Please make ALL analog HOTAS controls "progressive"/"analog" as they are for the GamePad

This is nothing new for ED - at least since I've been playing, but I have played EDH/EDO with both a T.Flight HOTAS X and an XBOX wireless controller and I notice that the speed of MOST ship, camera, walking controls is either "on" or "off" with the HOTAS.. but is progressive (stopped->slow->faster->fastest) with an XBox gamepad as you deflect that control in a particular direction. Very nice. Seems to me that the same analog/progressive controls in a HOTAS should function the same way as they do on the gamepad. (only the forward and reverse thrust on the HOTAS are progressive) The further/more firmly the analog control is deflected in a direction; the faster/slower that axis of movement should be. Please fix the HOTAS support.. it's infuriating - especially in Galaxy and System Maps. If ED can handle Xbox-like gamepads this way - there's no reason the HOTAS shouldn't behave the exact same way (albeit with the relevant controls)

You'll notice it when using thrusters. They're either on or off. If you set them to a slider, moving it half way up is the same as moving it to the bump stop.

Maybe I don't understand the problem, but when I use my X56 Throttle, I don't have any problems... Full Throttle is 100% thrust, when I pull it back to, lets say 1/3, the throttle is at about 30%...so everything ok for me. So my HOTAS is 100% progressive... and the stick, too.

Parts of the UI (the base cockpit at launch) is just brilliant.
Sadly the game was still in its infancy and had to grow (curse you progress)
All the new game mechanics, features, evolution of what is new compared to what is old design practices, evolution of player base and input-controllers, feedback and improvements to old shortfalls the additional UI’s and alterations to the good ui to the basic base game, has created a Frankenstein monster of overall inconsistencies that drives my little (albeit dead developer ) brain crazy.
But those inconsistencies can be a new and brilliant UI solution to older issues, and but it’s not in all the UI’s :)

That probably explains why I don't see it. I have the T16000 HOTAS. The throttle works forward/reverse, with an analog stick on the back controlling lateral and vertical thrust.

Yea, i guess that's what has happened. I think i would have noticed, if my inputs would have turned into digital ones.
To be more clear, I have a T.Flight HOTAS X and the throttle works as expected. In the galaxy map and in the system maps (and, for EDO when walking on foot), I'd like to have analog/progressive control of yaw, pitch, roll, strafe right/left. I do have this behavior for the throttle; the throttle forward/backward works perfectly. I can set my left stick to whatever speed I want. not a problem. But - when I try to use the right stick (which is analog, too), I have to push the stick in the desired direction 1/2 way and then the galaxy map/system map "pointers" (or onfoot) moves that direction at one constant speed regardless of any further stick deflection/release. It's frustrating that you can't move the pointer more slowly/any desired speed when navigating these things. When I run the Thrustmaster control panel calibration application in Windows 10, I do indeed see that everything except switches (of course they are digital after all) and buttons are indeed analog. I see the bars in the application move according to the stick/lever/handle deflection... Yet ED does not treat those controls as analog. (Again - the joysticks on even the cheapest game controller work in ED perfectly.) I want this behavior for the HOTAS, too. Does not seem doable. What am I missing? Thanks for any suggestions!

I have now spent some time looking at this.. the GamePad joysticks are treated as analog and have icons like "Ls" with little direction arrows for "up", "down", "left", and "right". The HOTAS' controls show up as, for example, simply, "Joy +RZ" and are treated as digital. So if nothing else your ideas/comments at least help me re-articlulate my request to FDev. Thank you. I will see if I can rename this thread to something like "Elite Dangerous should treat ALL analog joystick transducers as ANALOG in the Galaxy Map, System Map, and on-foot walking bindings" or I fear start another thread.

I will have to check my binds - I left them at default.. maybe that's the problem. It that is my problem, then I'd say the default binds are better for the game controller than the default binds for a HOTAS.

I don't think there are defaults for sticks. There are a lot of sticks out there with very different configurations. Your problem is 100% that you never set your binds up in the first place.

It'll be the binding. For a long time I played with my stick twist axis bound to the two settings "yaw left" and "yaw right". It made me think the stick was rubbish, with a huge dead zone. Once I found that you could analog bind the movement to "yaw axis", flying was much easier.

Indeed. I think it took me like 2 months of playing till i had everything sorted out.
