How little you know about the alpha...
15-20 min is my average time doing complete missions.

Nice try to deflect in advance what I will show you but what you will see is how I play when solo and it's a typical player experience when you know how to play the alpha. If you ask me, I can even show you missions that you can do in less than 10 min.

Note that it took me 2:42 from bed to the take off.
Note that my take off from planet to the altitude where I can QT took me exactly 43 seconds (from 12:07 to 12:50). At this point I could choose another mission. I could have made it in less than 43 seconds but I confused the shield capacitors with those of the thrusters so my afterburner was not recharging.

Its as quick if not quicker to do that than it is to get to a settlement mission in EDO.

Congratulations. You win the alpha.

Huh? Yeah, sure. The "experience" is magical, after all.
Actually it is magical if your in there for the first time, nothing quite like it. Just don't expect to get more than a months worth of gameplay at the moment, because gameplay is missing.
But I/we wait in hope.

Pretty art in CryEngine. Never been done before. Magical experience with nothing quite like it.

Nice. Now do the same from a planet. Bonus points if its Orison.

Moley, I know this stuff winds you up because:

A) You don’t want to be reminded daily that the game you enjoy keeps its wheels turning through a very blatant grift (big cash for hopes & jpegs).

&

B) You don’t want to be lumped in with the mooks who fall for the dream sales pitches, spend more than they should, and feel like an idiot.

But honestly mate: Tough crap. That is the state of play, and that mook who has almost instantly regretted his $500 splurge is just an ongoing example of it. That’s the brass tacks.

The information that might forewarn noobs isn’t 'readily available' in a standard Google search, because it’s swamped by a sea of CIG marketing, promising roadmaps, & shiny assets.

That’s why some people collate examples of the other side of the story. And will continue to do so. Because it’s still a story worth telling ¯\(ツ)/¯
No. It winds me up because you or I have no right to appoint ourselves as Star Citizen social workers. I agree consistently and regularly with the premise of your persistent harping with regard to Ci¬G or the criticism following the development of Star Citizen... but discussion of the spending habits of any private individual for open ridicule or arbitary judgement is bordering on an unhealthy fixation. At the same time by doing so, suggest you're being somehow righteous? That's where I draw the line and call bollox.

Basically, what folk spend and on what is none of my business unless it's illegal, neither is it your place to judge.

Sigh. Trolling at this point so checking out of this discussion. I said taking off a planet takes forever. You showed a video of you on a space station taking off from space. Not that hard to understand.

Do you have a video of you waking up and taking off from a planet? Those are the big round things with dirt on them (or clouds, w/e).

I think we can, however, judge the marketing practices CIG use to separate fools from their money and how that creates a segment of the player base who would rather defend the project than admit their pledges have all been spent, and that the thing they were initially shown probably won't materialize.

I believe we can also criticize the ethics employed by CIG to gain funding while prolonging development, even though we are not ethicists.

(And yes, this is one time when one could substitute any other pie-in-the-sky pitch for CIG.)

EDIT: And since everyone even tangentially related to this project (casual observers included) simultaneously knows everything and nothing about game development, I believe related topics are also fair game.

You said "taking off a planet takes forever". I show you a taking off from a planet in 42 seconds ! If you want to talk about cities, use the word cities.

It's not happening. Ant doesn't lift off from planets because he doesn't go there. And why would he? It just takes too long.

Ok, so English not your first language, nor is it mine, but a space station orbiting above a planet is not a planet. I'm assuming the answer to my question is "No".

Edit: Not orbiting cause no orbits, duh. #totally-a-space-sim

I'm happy to have one leg in and one out, at this stage (have for a long time now).

However I think 'scam' is unlikely at this point in time (10yrs next year). Bernie, you know, the one with the 'clue is in the name' guy. He ran his scam for decades. But he never really produced anything, just rotated money, easy to do.

CIG have at least built something, so scam is not something, I think, is very viable now as an excuse to pan the game (I say 'game', early access reduced playfield, maybe).
Mismanaged project, yes. Over promising, yes. Feature creep etc, all yes.
However there is something still tangible there, you can spend a month in there and be quite happy, after that, especially if your into exploration the gameplay isn't there yet.

But 'scam' no. Idiot boss, perhaps. But still a creative fellow, nevertheless.
