Is it? Both AspX and DBX also use a 5. I have no idea how the ship mass ends up interacting with the double-engineered drive, but I had heard that the DBX can beat the 'conda with it.
Playing in VR, the AspX view is unbeatable, but I would chose the phantom on flatscreen.
Maybe the DBX will beat conda if you focus only on range and nothing else. Not sure if you build them both as exploration ship with maxxed engineering though.
See, base conda have only 0.5ly less range compared to the DBX. While having +1.2ly through a bigger sized booster (size 5 instead of 4), so all in all, that's +0.7y range above the DBX.
If you build them both as exploration ship and max engineering, I'm not sure who win, but it's certainly going to be so close it doesn't really matter.
Conda will certainly beats phantom/asps though.
It's not big, however, and I prefer to play the phantom/asp for the reason mentioned earlier (easier to land, medium pad instead of large, not a whale in supercruise).
The DBX is my favorite bubble shuttle for odyssey as it can land anywhere and can go super far, but it's not very good for explo IMO. You have a smaller sized scoop, so scooping takes forever, and you have very limited optional slots. The asps have most of the essential, while the phantom can have them all. The conda can have pretty much everything you want and more.
