So Star Citizen is at its more fun ever when it is unplayable. Gotcha.

Dead Space is a BAFTA award winning game in two categories plus another two nominations, as well as having won awards in Game Developers Choice Awards, Spike Video Game Awards, Annie and Game Critics Awards among others.

SC has been in development hell for ten years and counting with no release date in sight. It does not deserve to be on the same drive as Dead Space, let alone be compared to it.

Stay in your corner, alpha.

Lol. The subject was about the difficulty to add doors in game. I show you that your award winning company has bugs on doors too, not even on alpha but a released product.

"It does not deserve to be on the same drive as Dead Space, let alone be compared to it"
They can't be compared. DS is a single FPS game on small maps, SC is a multi-genre MMO on gigantic maps. Visceral Games don't have to put their doors on moving ships or manage how an hoverbike can deal with them.

If you want stupid comparisons I can give you some :
"Do you know that the award winning game Tetris is able to stack several blocks 40 years ago while SC have troubles just to stack two boxes ? CIG should ask Alekseï Pajitnov how to code."

Taste is subjective. I always found dismembering zombie children very distasteful. The whole dismemberment. And the warped bodies.

They cannot be compared, he says, right before comparing them. Stay in your corner.
I say they can't be compared because they are not on the same level of complexity. You don't see the difference between adding doors in DS and adding doors in SC, I can do nothing about it...

Whoa whoa whoa slow down here a bit mate.
First: MMO ? With 50 players at maximum, really ? There are regular multiplayer games with higher player count.
Second: gigantic maps ? Actually, not: it's even the central issue that creates all the problems with doors, ramps, and all of these "map transitions" as SC is actually a bunch of small maps stuck together. Ever wondered why all of the city maps were so limited and small ?
Also Dead Space is a released game, and has passed the test of time with flying colours - one of the best System Shock 2 remakes (along with Prey).

Actually yes. There is only one map for the whole Stanton and not small maps stuck together like you said.
When you are in a city and look at the sky, you see players leaving QT in space and landing on the spaceport. Before CIG blocked it, you even had players coming with ships inside the main place of area18 you normally only acces on foot.

I really struggle with this door thing being so complex. Per LA SC is large map, and as I understand 50 players in a single server instance; moving through a door should then just be an animation and a change of parameter settings if moving through the door changes for example gravity. There is also the issue of what other players see in their view if I transition in or out of a room they are in, but that is a case of tracking player entities and displaying animations or not as required.

Now if the door marks an instance transition as it might when going EVA that is a different ball game altogether, but as I understand it that isn't how SC works.

That makes me wonder if something nasty has been tied to the doors. I am wondering if a room is some sort of container object and therefore when you move into and out of a room you are switching container and the transition then becomes something significant.

I get the hype now, the appeal of total freedom in this seamless way along with the immersion due to detail is highly alluring.
After actually experiencing BlackMaze's videos make more sense.
Welp... There's no going back now.

I'll get straight to the point. Star Citizen is more fun than it's ever been right now, but the state of desync makes everything CIG has worked to make it that way mostly unplayable.

I like Captain Berks, but that sentence just broke my mind.

Nice pics, you'll give Trinity a run for her money.

But if you can, and you're going to post a few, either spoiler them or thumbnail them, so it doesn't kill loading on mobile.

As for no going back... well, enjoy. Be sure to buy an Idris! CIG need more money. Lots more money.

It won nearly all of those awards for Audio, though. Who cares.
