State of the Game

Doomism can take a ticket next to Brussel Sprouts in the queue for the megacinerator of maximum eradication. The stench is about the same, especially when the odour leak from the bottom end.

Game's doing fine. Plenty still enjoying it. Meh!

when the "plenty still enjoying it" is sloping downward for an extended period ...the statement that "the game is doing fine" is just not true.

we'll get a clearer picture on just how fine it is when we see what the roadmap looks like after this beta is over. if Fdev believes in it, it'll be obvious in continued meaningful investment for new features and content. If we dont see that, then it's no longer doomism.

Let's see:
Today in EDH / EDO I have:-
  • Fought and won 7 High CZs in my FDL
  • Sold off nearly 4,000 tons of "2nd Owner" cargo
  • Fought and won 12 High CZs on-foot
  • Murdered around 32 citizens, stole all of the goodies in the installation, including the Power Regulator
  • Completed another 6 Scav missions to burn off the notoriety gained from the above..
Tomorrow I'll be bringing one FC back to the bubble while doing foot CZs on the other account...

... and I've been chuckling as I played ;)
(bar the belly laughs as the citizens met the wrong end of assorted plasma guns!)

That is how poor the game is!

ETA: For clarification - I have gone through life chuckling every day... We obviously didn't see the world the same - shame that the game is your equivalent of her...

the difference is, the game is virtual and only impacts my opinion of it here and while i play it. It doesn't paint or impact anything else.

I'm actually very nearly always in a good mood and I'm pretty awesome :) Everyone likes me who meets me that i'm aware of because i'm super helpful and good at what i do.

I'm up beat.. just not extrovertedly so. The stark contrast within this game is entirely due to frontier wanting it that way. Why else would they create things half-way implemented with the implication that it will be finished later and then never do so? They want frustrated, doomy players...that's why they make sure that no matter what you like about the game, it's balanced with something unavoidably opposed to realizing improvements to that thing to cater to other players in the same way, if not entirely abandoned from any further development.

Q.E.D.

So why bother with the game?

I'm sure you are a really nice person in real-life and that folk love you...

Playing something that one doesn't enjoy what one has, and would rather dwell on what it "might be", or "should have been" is a recipe for disillusionment.

Playing with what exists is the only way, and if that isn't entertaining, find something that is 🤷‍♂️

who said people dont enjoy playing? I enjoy walking. But i'm certainly not going to enjoy all the dog crap i have to avoid. Especially when that dog crap is prohibiting enjoying the sidewalk in more entertaining ways. And so while walking is enjoyable even though it's boring and repetitive...the knowledge that it's so close to being better.. overshadows that enjoyment in discussion. as it should, since the dog crap is avoidable and not neccessary.

i dont feel like giving up on the game even though the developers are bad. it's not the game's fault or the players that it's in the state it's in. Always a chance it can get better, be sold, or released to the community.
"The state it is in..." is the only state it will be in, regardless of change, be it for better or worse, of the "state it is in", for you, is tiresome, why bother? The developers are not going to give it to the community, build it on the Unreal engine or sell it off to another developer (I doubt any would want it - if the genre was that profitable we'd be inundated with clones of the game, we aren't, that gives a subtle hint, I'd surmise) for the forseeable future.

"Oh, but the developers are..." Yeah, same old, same old... Why not just admit that the fault is not theirs, but yours? You expect what they have not delivered...

It actually is quite amazing, honestly!

This current if the game gets sold meta is probably one of the funniest meta in a long while.

how is it meta?

i wouldn't expect fdev would ever part ways with the IP... for sure. more likely is that Fdev gets purchased entirely. And then parted out / restructured / replaced etc. That's how most games switch hands when they're not already third party ip
