State of the Game

I'd settle for the developer developing the game. Instead of releasing unfinished stuff that's either broken or subsequently never built up or really acknowledged again once it's unbroken.

that would be a welcome change. Bonus if it's gets a cohesive and balanced direction from someone who actually has played it.

I am always amused when the "AAA" developers who post so frequently on our forum declare that "the community" should play a part in the "development of the game"...
Yep it's a horse, guv, honest!

Yes... but it needs more humps

No... less humps - there's no gameplay with humps

How's about different coloured humps?

You can never have too many humps...

Humps are dreadful, give players and unfair advantage and should be nerfed...

I think the humps should be open to engineering for better humps

No, engineering is too grindy and gives players an advantage

Rubbish... you just need to git gud

And what about those legs? Only four... Fdev are too lazy to give us proper animals with 8 legs...

etc....
etc.......
etc..........

that's fdev's identity crisis at play there. You'd solve that by just picking what you want the game to be and going all in - in that direction. Do you want a hardcore game or a casual game? do you want a single player game with a narrative or a mmo sandboxy player driven game? This idea that you can be all of those things obviously just takes you to what we have now. And if that's your goal, then all of those suggestions about camel humps need to be listened to - because your success depends on making all of them a little bit frustrated because you didn't deliver what they wanted, but not upset enough that they stop playing.

i'm not sure that guy's a real utopian. his face looks red enough to have been day drinking his entire life. And Utopia doesn't do recreational drugs :)
Its Utopian Koolaid, what they serve you when you visit* Polevnic in one of the Happy Shuttles*

*Visit as in shipped in via pod marked 'Anticitizen'

Anyway, its better to be re-educated over soft drinks then punched into agreement...or worse....

Rumor has it that Enforcer Zaan and Jaques knew eachother back in the very early days of Utopia and Jaques almost joined. That is, until the drug policy came up in conversation.

After 300 years of listening to people talk ...jaques was all for Utopia's vision of the future of mankind - by any means necessary.

If only Jaques was held, Powerplay might have ascended (or exploded) :D

it unfortunately relied on Fdev to manually do most of the things that would make player activity (such as that done via powerplay) interesting.

I dont think player enthusiasm or belief would have mattered in it's case - nor would it have interfered with their plans.

The main outcome was that we'd have an uninhabited system after his jump. or a control system in colonia that would instantly bankrupt our cc next cycle. I dont think that would be enough for a revolution in fdev. I doubt they'd have noticed until a yellow bubble showed on the galaxy map after the tick when the servers were brought back up. At the time, there didn't seem to be much concern for reviewing and testing such events.

I'd settle for the serially disappointed "my dream is shattered" posters to abandon their source of dismay and, like the disembarkation of our ships to ground, fade to black...

says the person who keeps going to the forum when the forum has been nothing but a bunch of players in-fighting and complaining since kickstarter days. Perhaps you would find more enjoyment sticking to playing the game instead of being on the forum.
