State of the Game

This flour is telling you to go away.

Who designs these things?
Thanks to this thread* I keep seeing spanking paddles.

Believe me, I'm not pretending...
I know, you're 100% being a real hypocrite. No pretending

Why should I pretend? I leave that to the ones who are unable to see that what they have is actual - the things that 'should be' but aren't, just aren't, no matter how much bile exists, if it isn't there, it isn't.

The things that should be or might be aren't the drivers of doom. They've existed since kickstarter. They're a part of the forum and playerbase. That's not something that will change or needs to. That's not what has driven the very real change in gamer sentiment.

Of course there have, and they will never cease - until the plug is pulled on the game (and will probably echo around in the emptiness for a while afterward, bewailing what never was!) and there is nothing left to complain about.

Didn't the sky fall when Horizons was released too? I recall reading comments about equally doom-laden posts about poor performance...
and yet, oddly, what forum outcry there was didn't lead to widespread poor reviews and public apologies from the ceo and all kinds of damage control from the studio.

Every release results in moaning and groaning. That's the ebb and flow of the forum. That's not what has driven the real doomism we currently find ourselves in.

Never mind, feel free to berate others with skills that far exceed your own, if it makes you feel better.

Oddly, i've never had to apologize for my development work or push out unfinished work after lying about it's current state and i dont wait a month to push fixes to bugs that have already been fixed or use beta's as a marketing tool and release before fixing the identified regressions. And i do develop full stack software (soley actually) for a multi-national corp that is integral to operations there. And i've worked on open source games. I dont berate the skill ... we dont see the code. i berate the studio for their mishandling and incompetence in places where it's been their choice to fail when the topic comes up and that topic has happened to come up a lot recently. Not to make me feel better, but because we deserve to not pretend like the issues we are experiencing are normal or necessary evils. It's how the playerbase will enact change in the only way they can and how the studio knows that change is really needed. When they deliver something great that's not just fixing something that should have been what it is now from the start, i'll give accolades.

You may think change isn't possible, but it is. And it doesn't happen with kumbaya and happy sentiments all the time. maybe it wont happen, but it might.

I can continue to chuckle whilst enjoying the game that is on my PC (and a few others too) that in no way inflames me against the team that created it, even though it isn't perfect.

instead you just keep going on the forum and becoming inflamed against what makes it up. Rather than just doing what you keep suggesting they do.

or do you think you're helping people who are just stuck in this hell loop they can't get themselves out of? Do you think everyone else is that much stupider than you are that they are incapable of not playing something that they hate and doing something else or that they just never thought of it before?

So in addition to hypocritical ...some kind of god complex where we're all stuck inside this puzzle and you, being so much better see it for what it is from outside?

you're not seeing things from the outside and helping the poor unfortunate. you're one of the poor unfortunate. You just wish and complain about a different thing. That's why you're here. you are exactly the same as the rest here.

Bake me, daddy.

Im not sure which part to begin discussing first...?!

I know, you're 100% being a real hypocrite. No pretending

Stop writing such huge walls of crap - how am I supposed to find something in that to quote out of context? I can't even be bothered reading my own essays!

Do you think everyone else is that much stupider than you
Not everyone, no...
Oddly, i've never had to apologize for my development work
Oh, written the odd game or two then?
(So at least we know you don't work for Microsoft!)
You may think change isn't possible
No, that's your line, isn't it? Incompetent, useless, wastrels? Wouldn't trust them to clean your toilet properly...
I dont berate the skill
You do, all of the time...

Anyway, following a thrilling afternoon of Lego Incredibles PC gaming, it is time to damage the inf of one of my allies holdings in ED...

(I know you won't approve, or believe me, but this is going to be great fun - using things that exist in the game to affect other things that exist in the game - actual function! Stuff that just works! And it is BGS too :ROFLMAO:)

And whilst we are the subject of "oh the horror", can we tone down the rhetoric slightly??
Darth - we probably all get where you are coming from, some of your game ideas are inspired, but honestly... it is what it is and pages of bemoaning what isn't right isn't going to put it right... Ratty has spent probably more time in game than any of us, and still loves it warts and all, I still love it, I suspect most do (maybe in the way you love an eccentric and slightly dementing uncle...). There are things I suspect we would all like to change/see better implemented - but it is what it is. Play it/don't play it but for the love of Brebus keep the major moaning to the other threads where such stuff is rife (and provides entertainment for all!)

minor moaning in comedic fashion however is welcome, I *think...

weirdly, no news on beetlejuice 2 since january. Been a while since a tim burton'y movie has been out. Not sure the surreal nature of Beetlejuice fits today's adult audiences though.

Intriguing, I would have gone with just four words:

"Shut the fudge up."
