Any chance FDev will ever fix this?

10 min trying to dock at a station in Solo, getting denied. They only way to dock is to log out to the menu and log back in.

Any game that has me do that very often is gonna convince me that the logging back in just isn't worth it...

I'm a medium ship at Robigo Mines.

Your 99% number is obviously wrong, This happens at least every 3 or 4 runs. I have done 3 runs today and it has happened twice now. (in fact, I just relogged after posting this, and it is still not letting me dock.

What size station? Outposts only have one medium pad which can get taken up by NPCs. Where I operate on the edge of the bubble there are a lot of these outposts, and what I usually do is make sure to request docking while the npc is on the pad and they'll usually take off and leave fairly quickly.

I assume you know about the 7.5km rule.

Usually if you target the npc on medium pad then request docking, they leave.

Yep, I'm sitting here not moving just about 4km to the side. Watching 7 NPC ships dock and undock, all while I kept getting denied. The 3rd relog worked, and now I just logged out to go play something that lets me play. Enough frustration for today.

Make sure to request docking while the NPC is on the pad and once it takes off until you get access. With this, I have never had to wait for more than one ship and that's little more than a minor inconvenience.

Just to be clear...
If there's an NPC on the pad when you arrive: 1st request- Denied, 2nd request - NPC will undock and leave, 3rd request (made after NPC has gone and the pad lights go out) - Docking Permission Granted.

If the NPC hasn't docked yet and is still on approach when you make the 1st request - wait until they dock and the lights go out then proceed from 2nd request as above.

Hmm.. never had this. If i approach a station with all pads busy, i request, and within a minute or so, a ship will leave freeing up a pad.

Can we get a video please of where it takes so long you have to log out because no pads are being freed up?

The NPC ships are controlled by AI so I'm guessing the AI is requesting clearance the millisecond a pad becomes available.

First request they will undock. Its not instant though. You don't need to make a second request.

Robingo mines has one, count it one, medium pad. Often NPC ships will beat you to it. Rather than waste your time relogging find the pad and watch the ship. Shortly after it leaves you can dock.

Or

If you can't be bothered to wait, take your tourists from the much larger station deeper in system and if you just want credits there are much more enjoyable ways to get them than the robingo run.

Sounds like a classic PEBKAC error. This game is notorious for having them. There's nothing you can do about it, FDev clearly doesn't know how to fix these problems.

So many condescending posts, isn't the Elite community great! So welcoming and helpful.

Because we all know this game has absolutely 0 issues or bugs so we can put that possibility to the side and go straight to insulting the OP.
