Early Weekend State of Game Forecast : A front of hopefulness has swept in to replace the overcast weather we've been having and is going to raise temperatures and expectations but we have an Update Storm brewing to the south that might head north. If the storm follows that course expect extreme disappointment mixed with apathy as there will be high winds and lots of lightning but not enough rain to bring life back to the land.

well, it was interesting having rabbit about... but stuff like that is going to definitely get you put in time out .. censorship doesn't care if words have multiple meanings and we apparently have a fanbase of jelly users who are butt hurt about how awesome the thread is and will likely report it.

I'm new to this thread, had taken a break from Elite when trying the Alpha anticipating it would take a while to get it enjoyable.
Have I missed anything ? I see it's just roughly 1.800 pages of comments, surely one of you can summarize it for me ?
On a slightly more serious note: I am less interested in the whole FPS addition (surely nice to once in a while be able to walk through a station and at least around the ships now - but I play in VR so that's that, will happen once every couple of weeks when I start ED at my desk deliberately for that rather than sitting in my HOTAS & VR equipped playseat), rather was looking forward to increased graphics quality of planetary surfaces etc..
Are we there yet, or should I rather sit out another 6 months ?

We're like 50% there. maybe. depending on hardware. ie. framerate issues can cause motion sickness or just plain ugly experience with vr on surfaces and other performance suffering areas. But still images look nice for the most part now.

As a fellow VR player, I've stuck with Horizons. EDO unfortunately isn't there yet for VR and (like you) I'm not that fussed at this point about FPS so really EDO doesn't bring anything to the table at this point in time (apart from potentially my dinner - low FPS and VR are definitely not good for nausea!)
I still hold out that EDO will be visually splendid in VR once they get the optimisation sorted, but that seems to be a more complex problem than some of the armchair experts seem to recognise...

and howdy from Texas. I made the mistake of asking my dad “how y’all doing” and he launched into 10 minutes of saying everything with the most exaggerated southernisms he could think of, so I think I may be picking up the accent a wee bit.

If I had a behemoth of a PC sure I'd defo consider it but when im only rocking a R5 3600 and a crappy gtx1660 because I can't find a decent GPU it's hardly worth the bother of going full custom loop.

Dont listen to bottom hat. He's got dementia and tourettes and really has no idea where he's at, the time or what's going on. Just yelling about whatever random word that is stuck in his brain at the time. But they catch him eventually and give him his medicine and he goes away for a bit. So we just humor him until they do.
