Dude! Where's my ship? (while on legs)

Not played much Odyssey yet due to performance, but periodically checking it out.

On a planet, night time, near a settlement. Had logged off and logged back in a couple of weeks later. No idea where my ship was parked. I knew it was somewhere near.

So i thought, ok, i can always find it via the contacts menu. But nope, it doesn't appear on your contacts menu, not even when you are right next to it.b Nothing on the radar either.

Is there a way of finding where your ship is if its not within visual range? Or you just have to run around until you remember where you parked the damn thing?

PS: Did eventually find it by running around the base in a large circle.

Running around in very large circles is one of my favorite go to's for my various issues; going counter clockwise can also be helpful.

IIRC, going around in circles is involved in some small mammal mating rituals. However it's important that one orbits the same species.

Oh, the bar across the top? Damn, never noticed.

Thanks.
This is where all of the important markers go too. Doing a mission and you want to mark your target from the terminal (either a person or a locker or sample unit, or even a whole building) it will show as a blue icon on the compass. Ship and SRV shows as orange icons. Get into exobiology and your 1/3, 2/3 plant scans show as blue double helix icons.

Example - although this is the SRV, the ship is the same.

Here we go!
