I tried to find something reasonable, and didn't have good luck. My current settlement now is on a planet with snow storms every 5 minutes. sighFinally found another system with a paradise planet, found non-floating settlement, now have to find/buy 3 daggers to take it over.
Only 1 of my 3 settlements are on a paradise planet free of any storms. I searched through 4 systems to find the last on a non-nasty grassy moon. I get hit with a hot shower every 20-25 minutes.I tried to find something reasonable, and didn't have good luck. My current settlement now is on a planet with snow storms every 5 minutes. sigh
I don't like that I have to wait for things to do in the settlement. I'd like the ability to make more decision, like sim-city like, taking on more projects, and really have more dialogue with the NPCs, not just a comment from them and no options for my responses (just "Leave" available). I really like the concept of these Settlements and overlord stuff, but it needs to be expanded upon.

Sometimes you can get them from those peddlers that interrupt your travel in space. My base is on a Paradise moon. Want to take over the settlement there, but need three Vy'keen daggers, which refuse to spawn ever... bah.![]()
What do you mean "pay"?In what scenario do you pay for the settlement? Is it after you've already started one?

Currently no. But I wouldn't be surprised if they add that feature in the next patch. Starting another settlement is how the current one is abandoned and its causing a boat load of bugs.Is there any way to simply abandon the current settlement? Let's say I no longer want to be involved with the settlement game loop.
Yeah, I couldn't find a way of doing that. I think there's more work to be done with this update. Apparently, there seems to be issues with the time for the loops and sometimes it gets stuck and nothing happens. Some people have millions in debt and no way of fixing it.Is there any way to simply abandon the current settlement? Let's say I no longer want to be involved with the settlement game loop.
I've taken control of several settlements. Each time is the same. Talk to contact, ask about signal, kill the sentinels that appear, go to central kiosk and accept settlement control from that dialog. I always do this from the comm signal. Maybe what your talking about is if you decline the first offer and use a chart to find another one?@Krash,
The 3 dagger payment is something you give as payment to take over as an overseer of the settlement. Is that what you're asking? When you go to the center command console in a new settlement and you want to sign up for the job, you have to give them 3 Geknip for a Gek settlement, 3 dagger for V'ykeen, not sure what the other ones want, so it's a one time payment.
I hope that was the answer to the question...? I'm confused though, because I think you know these things better than me.![]()
Right! Now I get it.I've taken control of several settlements. Each time is the same. My method might be an exploit. If I don't like the settlement I reload the manual save and look somewhere else. The comm signal is like a free chart. It only points to a settlement after you click "Find signal coordinates". I use a spare chart to see if I can find another settlement in the same system. What I'm really looking for is a decent planet.Right! Now I get it.
So that's how I got my first settlement too, the one it offered re-starting the game afresh after the update. But if you decide to go and look for a new settlement, then you do the map, and you have to pay the tokens at the center console to take ownership.
I wish you could run multiple though considering how long it is between events. Start 10 in a system and you can start to be slightly busy solving problems, maybe, if they speed up the timers a bit.
Clever. Wish I had thought of that.My method might be an exploit. If I don't like the settlement I reload the manual save and look somewhere else. The comm signal is like a free chart.
