The Asp Scout is a great ship for Odyssey ground work. Convince me otherwise.

Better vertical thrusters than the AspX, 45 Ly range with a guardian FSD booster + engineering, slots for SRVs, hardpoints for mines and missiles, nimble, two seats, 400m/s+ boost speed ... I'm really enjoying the Asp Scout for planet-side stuff, including exobio scanning and settlement missions.

I've used my DBX a lot for this kind of work, but the lack of a second seat can be a drawback. The AspX has good range but lousy maneouverability.

I like the scout.

ETA: I love the mamba for ground work too because whooooosh. But the range and fuel usage is insane.

As cheap (and quite frankly unnecessary) knockoffs go, the Asp Scout is arguably even worse than the Challenger and the Crusader.

Right at the bottom of the pile. I've been using the Dolphin myself, but if I had to build a new ship I'd probably give the Courier a try.

I can't tell the Challenger, Crusader and the other one apart. I own all three but honestly, I don't know which does what and they're all interchangeable to me. I kitted them all out and still don't fly them.

I like the Dolphin, and have one equipped for long range. But I also like having two class 2 missile racks and two class 1 mine launchers.

The Imperial Courier is great for solo ground missions, but again it's a single seater.

One of my Krait Mk IIs is set up for ground use, with 4 SRVs, fighters, missiles, flak launchers, the lot, but I the boost sound really grates on me and it can be a bit large to land in rocky terrain. The 3 seats make it the best choice for larger teams - when the bug that kicks team mates out in supercruise is fixed.

DBX is better.
Best combination of size, fire power, jump range, shields, internals and hangar running distance. Basically unrivalled.

I love the DBX but it's a single seater, and I do a lot of Odyssey stuff in teams.

Even if you don't fly a team mate to the mission, if you have a single seater they can't use your SRV to change suits in. Locks them out.

Yeah, that hangar running distance, not to mention the lift and distance to the first set of screens for missions.
Anyone know if fdev are planning to let us take ground missions from our ship??

Teams are overrated (*)

Anyway, Update 7 will bring in some changes to the number of seats - guess we'll see what ships will be affected.

*(However, i do appreciate ships that can take teams on - getting 2-3 commanders to blow together in the same ship is always a nice possibility)

Why would you use anything but a Viper IV? It has the exit on the front. You can plonk it down right on top of the targets and hop out of your pilot seat guns blazing. And you can have a commando unit fire on it for five minutes without the hull budging.

Microsoft Teams? :D

Anyway, CM4 is a nice option. Personally i'll keep using my Dropship with its 8 SRVs.

Still, with update 7, for group play, something with 4 seats so you can have 1 on foot, 1 in SRV, one in SLF, and one in ship might be nice.

But nothing wrong with the Asp Scout, a fine ship.

I wouldn't attempt a stealth mission in a team, as that usually ends up with flashing alarms and swathes of dead NPCs. But on Sat/Sun I tend to join a streamer for some ground missions, and they're always a blast.

Most weekends there are three of us messing around and - with the way NPCs now target SRVs parked near bases, even when they're out of sight - being able to use another Cmdr's SRV can be very handy.
