State of the Game

Good morning thread!!

A bit like the damn shed that I've been fixing, painting, and putting a new roof on for the last two weeks!

Granted it was helping my old man doing it, and not my other half, but he is a bit like a woman! ;)
Living in a French house built in 1914 I have a list of things to do a mile long, and that does not include the garden or garage.

Its funny because eight years ago the most DIY I ever did was drill a hole to put a cable though. Now I'm drilling holes in roof beams and splinting them, fixing walls and own an arsenal of garden weapons.

A dangerous time though, its in this period the other half will 'suggest*' things that need doing.

*suggest as in expect being done

A couple of years ago I put up a shelf in the kitchen. I proudly showed this to the mrs at the exact point it slowly drooped and deposited its contents in the sink.

A list has already been prepared - luckily she knows my limitations and has omitted stuff I could ruin.

I get you there mate, but I suspect your list of things to repair is huge! My parents house is from the 20s or 30s, so I worry that it'll start to show its age soon enough. As they are getting on, it's muggins who is always roped in as the first worker!

I like your description of garden weapons though - there is something satisfying about tools and garden tools, I don't know what it is?!

You made me laugh with this - my first ever shelf effort was similar, but it lent forward - I put an edge on it to stop stuff sliding forward to meet the floor! Then proudly declared it fixed in crappy DIY style!

Its the combination of Gladiator style blades with middle aged names.

For the hedges about to die, we salute you!
