I wonder why THIS hasn’t been discussed yet?

The point being the change of the game logo upon starting the game.
Why am I now playing the game “Odyssey” instead of “Elite: Dangerous”?

Up until Horizons the Elite Emblem with the name of the game was used.
To me a strong and powerful image of what was to come or expected of me as a pilot.
Something you wanted to earn as a pilot and (maybe) pin on your flightsuit.

The Odyssey logo is just “meh”. Something that a trainee would whip up in an afternoon.
It breathes no life into the game. Surely not something I would want to earn, let alone pin on my suit.

So, what are your thoughts about the change of logo for the game?

I think it's down to the rubbish decision by FDev to make E: D into a low bar FPS where you don't actually need a ship to play the 'game'.

Put simply, it's not Elite any more.

Yeah there's also some weirdness with horizons screens briefly appearing before the Odyssey intro plays, and in one of the horizons screens you even get to see the missing space dust that is a big topic of conversation re: gamma settings and lighting. I guess it was just rapidly thrown together in time for launch and on their list of top 20, is probably ranked #317

I hate it when you get a "model looks stunning in new beach pictures" article fly by on the news aggregator, and you click the article and they don't include the pics! what!

Put simply, it's not Elite any more.

This is how I've felt reading threads in this forum ever since Odyssey dropped. Everyone is talking about scopes for their rifles and FPS tactics, and I'm thinking, "What happened to all the talk about space ships and hard points and FA-off and..." all the other stuff that once made Elite, Elite.

It's almost like reading the "What game are we playing instead of Elite" thread, LOL.

The pics are there. They just make sure they are the last thing in queue to load, after all the ads, ads and more ads. By the time your browser gets to them, you've already given up and hit the back button.

EDO is an expansion, not the full game. So it will should bear the Elite Dangerous title

I thought I was quite gifted with words but try as I might, I just cannot properly convey just how few frags I give. I didn't care when they changed the ED screen to the Horizons one, and I don't care now. I know this is hardly Shakespearian but I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really do not care.

It is, quite literally, still Elite, and if you really think all Odyssey added was a "low bar FPS" then I would really encourage you to give it a real look.

When someone is so chronically and hysterically bitter about a game it might be best to just go away completely. At some point it's not an honest lack of understanding anymore but some kind of weird mental vendetta versus a computer game.

If it causes you so much anguish as it seems that it might be doing there are ways to change the splash screen for a game.

As for my personal thoughts while I'm not as articulate as Ian Skippy I have to also say in my simplistic way that there is not one cell in my body that gives a toss about what logo Elite is using.
