Elite Dangerous Community Schedule W/C 20 September 2021

Another update, they already have me up to the top of the crown, again you have to reprogram the hotas keys in Horizont, because they do not solve the one that every time they make an update, they erase the programming of the controls.
Do you know you can make a backup of your bindings?
Plenty of threads on the forum telling you where to find them, and how to rename them to avoid losing them.

Isn't that update 8, for proper performance improvements...

Interestingly, I have no issues flying in or around stations in VR, maybe the Oculus ASW takes care of any inconsistencies?
Update 7 has some fixes in it that will improve performance but yes, it sounds like 8 is the one they expect will have a major impact. I can't remember which update has the navmesh fixes they mentioned.

It feels kind of empty posting Monday abyss memes so late too...

They have literally, several times, said that console development is on hold until Odyssey is in a solid state. There are performance fixes scheduled for this update and Update 8, which we don't have a release date for. Knowing that there's at least one more update for performance fixes to come (likely more) before the game is in a state they find satisfactory, what kind of update are you looking for? It's on hold and you'll know when it isn't.
Plus they are not going to announce it on a Community Schedule.

This is the Navmesh fix, I believe, in Update 7. Not a major fix, but may just make some planetary settlements better performing.
If that's the case (fingers crossed), I'll probably get nice PFS in that long research layout. I just did a mission at one tonight and was getting around 60fps after having sent its occupants elsewhere (anarchy faction clean-out mission). I think I was getting 20-40 beforehand, don't remember (I don't pay much attention to fps so long as it isn't TOO horrible (< 20 is too horrible, but I don't need an fps counter for that :p )).

Make a copy of your binds and call it something different, your imagination is the limit, hey presto no more overwriting the default key binds with every update. o7

I only have a 2080 Super...

But then, it seems that the 3000 series are possibly worse affected than slightly older GPUs.
I concur. I'm running a 3070 laptop GPU (which probably puts it in the 2080 range performance wise) and can thankfully play VR in Odyssey in relative comfort so long as I stay clear of the galaxy or system maps. When using either of those performance is fine, but roughly 10% of the time when returning to the cockpit I get massive frame lag. Sometimes that goes away by itself, sometimes I need to exit to the main menu to cure it.

Just wondering, I've always had the experience that the HOTAS and keybinds have been 'reset' to keyboard and mouse ... BUT ... when I check the dropdown list, the old ones are still there, so I just re-select the right one...
