It was.

No not at all. Or not by actual laws of physics. Also "gravity" doesnt work like the real one. And yeah dont expect anything remotely close to actual orbital mechanics like having to burn prograde to get more altitude, or retrograde to get lower and move faster... This doesnt happen.SC has orbital mechanics?
It was some patches ago, this tiling is gone now. That tiling though
Not been paying too much attentionHas anyone leaked anything yet RE: Evocati?
hum..... ok.Not been paying too much attention
Not in a bad way or anything...just not noticed any leaks yethum..... ok.

. This is a perfect example of the cultness of some SC players. Holy hell.

The addition of FOIP wasn’t a feature addition, it was a paradigm shift. When they added sound to movies, it took years to figure out how to do effective sound effects, music, and dialogue specifically for the film. Same thing with FOIP: it’s going to take years to grok just how much can come from this one upgrade.

What...you mean the MSR isn't a starter ship? I must be doing something wrongA Skeptic's Return to Star Citizen
Part Four: The Relocation Quest
(A Skeptic's First Steps into Star Citizen, part one)
Parts One through Three was trying to actually get it updated (and then reinstalled), thanks to CIG's notoriously quirky patcher. I hadthoughthoped, given that the last freefly event went relatively smoothly, this would also be the case. Nope! But time and perseverence prevailed, and I was eventually about to start the game!
And while I was disappointed, though not surprised, that the game remembered where I my "home" was, the route to the starport was familiar enough that I quickly made it to the terminal. And was surprised to see what my selection was.
There went my plans for the rest of the week. I wanted to try the starter ships, dang it! Oh, well... I still needed to do the completely counter-intuitive move of leaving the starting area, and setting up shot at an orbital platform, so I might as well use what I had. I chose the Origin 600i.
Naturally, I inspected the underside of my ship before launch. Everything looked OK, but when I lowered the cargo elevator to board my ship, I noticed a potential problem:
After a brief tour of the absurdly luxuriously appointed interior, I eventually found the bridge, started the ship up, and lifted off. Once I got into space, I set course for the only nearby orbital facility. Which involved a lot of rotating, zooming, and fiddling with the Mobiglass to do. Give me a nice, sortable list of potential destinations that I can select from any day. It was, thankfully, a quick quantum just to the station.
Unfortunately, it dropped me off 24 km away from the station, and at sub 100 m/s speeds, would take me a while. With nothing better to do, I started looking around the cockpit, playing around with the diegetic controls... or at least the ones that worked. To some point, I accidentially moved the mouse wheel forward, and discovered that doing so increased my speed.
Of course the game would do something like this, rather than any of the myriad sensible control schemes out there. I dialed up my speed to something more reasonable, and got ready to contact ATC. Unfortunately, the area of empty space I thought I was aiming for wasn't as empty as I thought...
Which means I spawned back at microtech and New Babbage.I quickly made my way to the elevator, but when it opened, the view I saw told me it was time to call it a day. It was a bit early, but it wasn't like I was in a hurry anymore. After all, not having a starter ship meant that I couldn't test the things I wanted to.
The rest of the free fly is going to be spent trying to relocate my character to the orbital platform, and checking out the other ships. If anything particularly interesting happens, I'll let you know.
Okay. I'm taking the plunge into ED:O. Will a die of a heart attack while running down stairs? Are there elevators? Will I be able to upgrade my ship via cash? Will SC or SQ42 release before I'm done downloading this?
