Without a smooth experience ED will just get more niche than it already is because one of EDs great advantages was its potato friendliness.I made a few comments on the Update 8 topic, admittedly most taking the mickey out of the 'gutted' consoliers who haven't been told since yesterday that the console release depends on the PC version actually performing...
Obviously it is rather delicious reading their ranting about additional content being added and them not having it... I don't ever recall the console crowd insisting that the console and PC releases have parity on titles that were going to be 'exclusive' on console for any length of time. Although it is even sweeter reading the ranting of the PS5 few... still unable to process the fact that Frotner have said, multiple times, that new generation consoles won't be getting native versions... (One has to appreciate the irony that I have ED on my PS4 and couldn't possibly imagine how dreadful Odyssey would end up looking trying to run at acceptable FPS on the old thing, particularly when comparing it to my PC version)
Having spent so long reading both lines mentioning performance, I guess that 8 isn't going to bring "significant improvements" at all, but we shall be able to do stuttery emotes at eachother as we appear to teleport small distances across the station etc. concourses!

My 2nd FC was bought with credits from stolen goods, the first from wing (4 players active) massacre missions in a couple of wars... but having to BUY because the latest patch stops my FC Secure Storage accepting stolen goods? That is abysmal! To rub salt into the wound, the station I BOUGHT 1500 tons of Tritium from had a handful of wing delivery missions which, had I been able to accept, would have netted me around 16,000 tons of free Tritium... Torture, pure evil!

Honestly if I knew how to steal crap I'd be doing it as long as it requires minimal effort (no ship to ship pew pew) on my part.

It just boggles my mind how people have ignored the disappearing performance improvements of Update 8, to be thrilled by shiny new things and to dive into infighting between console and PC players. I hate to admit it, but the "Hey! a squirrel!" strategy seems to be working.

that implies that the elite playerbase is stupid / easily distracted. We're not. We've just given up on normal software development expectations and have accepted the Fdev pattern of doing things. The money has been spent....so the bet has already been placed and how you win or lose is all determined by how hard you look at the table and where.
