Diving mecanic is totally broken (sometimes)...

... and it's very annoying when a lot of the new species Frontier will sell us require diving for their welfare (Beaver, Californian Sea Lion, Alligator(?) but before that King Penguin, Grey Seal, Giant Otter...). :cautious:

Sometimes, when you start your park, animals can't detect water depth. Sometimes it's ok while you didn't change anything in the habitat...
Here are two screenshots (but it's for all my diving species in my park right now) where you can see they can totally dive (and they did well before today, they all were totally happy) but they don't now :cautious:

Have you already had this issue ?
Do you know how to help animals to detect back the water depth ?

Thanks a lot

It’s often impossible to re-adding the water when the enclosure is too complex, but yeah, it’s a good idea when it’s possible (nice tip for the climbing structures bug !)

It's so silly, though, that we, the players, are expected to "cope" with common, longstanding, unfixed bugs by deleting and undeleting climbing structures, floats, water.... in every habitat with climbing/diving animals. I gave up and no longer use any climbing or deep-diving animal. Frontier, will you please fix this?

must be a similar bug to the climbing area bug.

Sometimes i start my zoo some of my animals get low wellfare because there isnt any climbing stuff in there habitat. when i move/replace the climbing stuff in their habitat the game relocates it again.

I'm assuming a fix isn't that easy or they would have done it already. The climbing bug is very unpredictable and I can go months with no issue and then have it happen. It's a small pain especially in my big franchise but at least it is a straightforward work around. I think it has got rarer with the latest update as well. Hopefully they will keep improving with each update.

Yes, I also have this bug. Whenever I start my current zoo, the seals suddenly can't dive. It helps if you remove the water, and then use the UNDO action instead of trying to put it back in. That's what I do.
Arf, I've tried it, but when I delete the kind of water you can see in my original screenshots, the game crashes...
For me, it's definetly a massive/major issue to can't be able to play with aquatic animals you bought...

Can you share traversable map of the habitat?

Looks like a case where they can't access the water, same with pic 1 in this thread.

They swin in the water (they can access the water, you can see in the "space informations" they have enough water), and the water area is depth enough. But they can't dive. But sometimes (rarely), the bug disappear, and they can dive... It makes that for every animals on my zoo. Sometimes they can, but sometimes nope.

And if you remove all water plants? Does that fix anything?

Here are all of my reports on what works for diving and what doesn't
2m
  • Beaver (Works)
  • Giant Otter (Broken)
  • King Penguin (Broken)
  • African Penguin (Broken)
  • Cuviers Dwarf Caiman (Broken)
3m
  • Gharial (Broken)
  • Saltwater Crocodile (Broken)
  • American Alligator (Broken)
  • Grey Seal (Broken)
  • California Sea Lion (Works)
4m
  • Formosan Black Bear (Works)
  • Grizzly Bear (Works)
  • Polar Bear (Works)
  • Sun Bear (Works)
  • Bengal Tiger (Works)
  • Siberian Tiger (Works)
  • Jaguar (Works)

All of them do work in 4m or deeper however. The statements are just saying in 2m water only the beaver works and in 3m only the Sea Lion works

Interesting ! But it seems it's not a bug for you so, right ?

Not sure what you mean. I don't know if my situation is exclusive to me at the moment but if I didn't clearly state it before my issue isn't that animals won't deep dive per say. All animals deep dive fine in 4m water, I tested every single one. The problem comes in with 3m depth and 2m depth. The Beaver can dive in 2m and works fine and the Sea Lion can dive in 3m and works fine. Initially I had thought that maybe only the NA pack animals could dive in 2m and 3m water but the patch notes confirmed other animals could dive in 3m and 2m. Also I had forgotten originally the Alligator is part of the new pack and cannot dive in 3m water like its suppose to therefore it's 100% a bug but mine seems to be slightly different. The animals can detect deep water it shows correct measurements and all they just don't deep dive unless its 4m.
