Just Curious?

First,

This forum and it's UI are far better than other gaming forum sites I visit, so why can't Fdev come up with better UI's for the Galaxy Map and System Map, or any other UI in the game?

And second...

My AMD Radeon Graphics card gets updates quite often. In just about every update, the release notes claim the updates contain support for the top popular games, but never once do I get an update claiming support for Elite Dangerous.

Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 21.10.2 Highlights

Support For

  • Back 4 Blood™
  • The Riftbreaker™
I guess ED is not popular enough for the graphics card makers to worry about supporting. Just once, I would like to read the graphics card update release notes and see "Support For Elite Dangerous".

I don't have an Nvidia card, so I cannot say if their release notes claim support for Elite Dangerous.

Just curious.....

I feel sorry for you OP, stuck on the Horizons UI. But don't worry - the Odyssey UI is far better :) When you get to upgrade you will see, it really is very good (y)

You can always count on Stewie to have a post about something....

I'm pretty sure E : D was mentioned in the gfx updates years ago (I seem to remember it on my old nvidia card - possibly at the time of the original release).

As mentioned above it's almost definitely a marketing thing so more likely to be tied in to games when they are newly released.

Just to be awkward, I gotta say that I've found the Odyssey galmap to be that absolute shonkiest part of my VR experience so far. 😬

Dunno if it was better in Horizons but, lordy, in VR selecting a destination seems to require me to wiggle the mouse-pointer around randomly within about 6 inches of my target system until it "pings" and then try to hold it perfectly still for long enough to plot a jump.

The sysmap seems to have a similar issue but at least it's only a 2D map so it's easier to persuade the cursor to select a target.

You can wait until it pings, then use the new plot route option in the right menu? Would that be easier, I must admit I am not a VR user, but I would like to do it one day.
