General / Off-Topic Why there no life after death, when we are not alive at all

Yes we are made of atoms. How the human body works on an atomic level, how the mind works, what is consciousness .... are questions scientists don't really have an answer for. "What is life?" We simply do not know. Without knowing that, we cannot say if reincarnation is real, it's something we'll each find out sooner or later, but right now, it's just a theoretical concept created to help the human mind cope with things they did not understand.
I know. Its just dead atoms magic. More complex systems have more complex processes. Like feelings and mind. But its all deterministic. So we're just a npc viewers of our life. Theres no freedom at all. Whole universe is determined from start to end. Can you grasp it?

And some positive stuff - maybe its not true. Actually what freedom do I have in a deterministic system? All stuff that I write is determined?

Wait... What if our minds are separate universes that collide with each other and therefore our macrocosmos is undetermined?

We're made of atoms, right? Atoms are dead, so we are too.
But are atoms really dead? And what about the issue of emerging properties in complex systems, like synchronization and such? Maybe the whole universe is alive, and we're rather a smaller version/part of the larger, whole living thing. ;)

existence precedes essence

the consciousness of a thing is absolutely dependent on its physical makeup

all things have a consciousness defined by those physical attributes

is a rock conscious - yes - it thinks in a way consistent with what it is made of, and the arrangement of those parts

is an npc conscious - yes - the position of the electrons that define its limits dictate the scope of its cosciousness

Atoms have properties of duality and assembles according to specific instructions using waves and particles. The sun is seen as the source of life on earth because it provides life giving "conscious" photons of light and heat. When these photons interact with "dead" electrons, it charges them and absorbs the energy enabling it to move into a higher state.

Humans whom are alive maintain their higher states of the energy from such atoms in their consciousness. When we get old, this bioelectrical chemistry slowly degrades and is lost via metabolism. The atoms in our genes used for rebuilding new cells eventually fail leading to death according to the law of entropy.

Summary:
Consciousness is energy, Physical self is the atom. Both are complementary inclusive (like my yin yang avatar).
Life is the intertwined, complex state of these dualities.

Sucks to be a rock, for sure. Most boring existence ever. Maybe if only rock in space, that passes whole galaxies. Until it'll hit boring lifeless planet.

Interesting thought. And also without our star we wouldnt existed. We're made of stars.

I think, therefore I am.

How alive are you in your dreams? Are you just a figment of your imagination, or when you die in what you perceive as real life, will you wake up into a new reality?

We're made of atoms, right? Atoms are dead, so we are too. Why fool ourselves by being alive. Why were thinking by being truly alive, when we are objectively dead. We all ran by dead atoms. So our body is just a deterministic machine. We all determined from start to end of universe. Enjoy your stay.

Im not sure of that tho. Just read that creepy rthing in some book.

But what do you think? Are you NPC or a real creature?
If this thread goes religious I'm done with it....

According to some modern cosmology all reality is just a hologram projected onto the fabric of spacetime, or something. Don't ask me how (what am I a physicist?). So we're all just holographic projections.

If we use our understanding of the Laws of Thermodynamics and Entropy all we can guarantee as our perception of reality is that we are in a present moment. The past is past and future is unwritten in our minds.

Don't get me started on quantum physics and wave function collapse, M Theory etc.

That's my metaphysics on life etc. for the day...

[Edit]Yes; we are alive. As living systems we convert "raw materials" to create energy to power systems. (Have you ever thought about the voltages running through the nervous system?). We have sentience and can cognise our perceptions of being present in "the world". Yes we are alive....

........ as for sentience; if you, or anyone else, can explain, qualify and quantify exactly what sentience is, well you win the Nobel Prize.[/Edit]

Your use and understanding of terminology is confusing.

Atoms are not considered to be "dead".
"Dead" implies there to have been a state of being alive.

We are not "objectively dead", while being still alive, and animated.
That, in short, is the difference:

A collection of matter that is able to reproduce, grow, develop, that has homeostasis, needs to be fed energy to keep going, etc. this is what we call being a living being.
It does not matter that it is made of non-living (not Dead) matter. This is not a problem for being called "living" at all.

Everything that lives is made up out of non-living particles. It is the other criteria that determine whether something is alive, not the fact that it is made out of non-living stuff.

Look at it this way. All theories say:
Us, and everything in the world is made of *
We come from *, and we return to *
Everything is connected, moving, belongs to and comprises of *

Now just change * into
1. Energy (atoms, electrons etc) you're into science.
2. God, you're into religion.
3. Nature, you're a hippie.
4. Whatever, the difference is just one word :D

I read about Holographic Universe, that was an interesting book. But I think that we cant grasp even 1% of our universe possibilities, and this is really sad. Our brains are so small and limited. AI can find a way, but really good AI, not some crap.

And the way should be only like this: explore our universe fully, find out that were not even equal, get outside of our universe or save our universe, or accept and die.
