Are Frontier content with Elite Dangerous? a few questions

Landing on ELW
Imagine coming across an Earth-like world, with a breathable atmosphere, oceans etc, but it being entirely devoid of life, there's a certain eeriness to that scenery which i feel was captured awesomely by the film Prometheus, in the sacrifice scene. I know the rest of it was pants, but the experience of finding a randomly generated Earth-like world that nobody has ever been to, is a moment no space game has ever given me. I love NMS but the graphics aren't realistic, Star Citizen's planets look great but were created by a human, not by randomised noise.

I think Frontier is content with the direction of the game, but obviously they're not content with our reaction. I have a feeling they are bewildered and even baffled at the overall negative response to Odyssey.

Frontier (specifically, Sally) has come out and publicly stated that they are focusing on people who currently like Odyssey and rather than those who do not, so if you are not content with Elite, don't hold your breath, because Frontier is committed to the current direction of the game and won't be changing course anytime soon. In my mind this means even more emphasis on "foot action" and less on flying spaceships in the coming years, something that really doesn't inspire me much. Had the "foot action" supplemented rather than replaced spaceship action, I would be much more enthusiastic about the future of the game.

Of course Frontier isn't content with the release of Odyssey, players leave, heaps of backlash and negative reviews, content creators and YouTubers quit and above all less money is coming in then they hoped for.
And lots of time and resources, thus money, goes into fixing this mess.

Yah, I think it's save to say that they're probably not content right now.
The only one they can point their finger to is themselves though, they brought this onto themselves.

"Despite its initial challenges, hundreds of thousands of players are enjoying the experience". Not in your wildest dreams. Steam charts show a current average number of players being ~3,600. I know that people play on other platforms than Steam, but hundreds of thousands? I don't think so.
Well, it's pretty obvious that what they meant with "the experience" isn't playing Odyssey but posting biowaste in the State of the Game thread.

Do "I" think "Frontier" is happy with "ED"? What kind of question is that? What would it matter to "me" if "Frontier" is happy with "ED"? "ED" is what it is. "I" am not happy about it. And what "FD" thinks about it is not my concern anymore.

Is it just me, or is the first 3 mins of that film the best 3 minutes? The music is great, and it makes a great opening for a movie.

Not the movie than we got, unfortunately. And I quite like Prometheus.

Really, when was this? Sure it was not just an off-the-cuff remark by her? I'm trying not to read too much into every statement the CMs make especially when on stream, as it might well be a personal view (despite ultimately being an official representative of the company so in theory whatever they say could be taken as gospel).

What I found quite peculiar in the past was the wording of certain statements, like changes to lighting (or whatever it was, can't remember) only being done because of moany players, not because it was simply broken or just looked pants. Which may also be what you're referring to above.

That's quite worrying if true because it suggests that FDev can't see what the issue is with many of the lighting and graphical glitches that EDO introduced.

I'm still baffled on that one, even today... It is as if the differences are invisible if one had 2 identical PCs displaying the same place in both EDH & EDO...

Now we have been told that further work on lighting will happen post-optimisation, apparently even if the lighting is causing some of the performance issues we have. (assuming that the 2 breakdowns of how EDO draws a screen are vaguely correct)

Yeah, it suggests that they've got a real blindspot for some of these issues, or they think the player base is being overly pedantic and entitled.

Either that or they know full well but try to avoid/minimise remediative work where they can if people won't notice/make enough noise.

I don't know which one it is in reality, and I also don't really know which one I'd find worse.

(also for the record I was paraphrasing before anyone has a go at me for what I posted above)
