Timed scenarios are terrible!

Timed scenarios are horrifying and I have been too scared to even touch them. I wish for DLC's we'd get more basic scenario options, maybe for the last DLC we can get another scenario with Bernie or any other Goodwin for that matter.
For me personally they go against the ethos of the game. I play PZ to relax and make good habitats that both my guests and animals enjoy. Whenever I played timed scenarios, animals just get chucked into a random tiny habitat that is juuuuust good enough to not get protesters.

I'm not sure if the reason they've gone away from the more campaign style maps is because they don't have to do voice acting for the timed scenarios, which if that's the only reason, I would say most people would be perfectly fine to exchange voice acting for the map to not be a timed scenario. Anyways I've seen this pop up a lot since it was announced both the update and dlc would have a timed scenario so I added it to my suggestions meta list.

As I wrote before, neither timed nor story scenarios are my sort of having fun either.
But reasoning that we get forced to play it because of the statues is not really a valid argument (in my opinion), because we can get the stone-statues without playing the scenarios. That's the thing I wanted to correct: You get the stone statues without even looking at the scenario. So there is no reason for playing the scenarios if one doesn't like to. Not having fun with them is ok, plus it is ok giving feedback that you don't like them. But if you voice your feedback in a very aggressive and derogatory way, other people, who enjoy the scenarios might feel offended.

fr though just don't play them

I agree but also like... the lack of regular scenarios in the new DLCs is a crime tbh. I can't for life of me understand why the timed ones completely replaced any regular ones. And I don't care much about the statue thing she was talking about, but the way the old scenarios were designed to be interesting even without a time limit is something I miss. I was one of the most optimistic about the timed scenarios, but now I'm one of the people annoyed by them.

They should make it so that on Easy the timer is stopped.

I like to take my time building zoos so I haven't even touched the timed scenarios...

My guess is they tossed the timed scenarios in there because there's a minority of players who want the game to be 'harder' and Frontier seems to have chosen the timed scenarios as a place to do that. I haven't noticed them especially pushing them; there's always one in the DLC and they always announce it but don't spend much time on it aside from that. I do wish they'd go back to the tutorial games as something to do but I suspect that those are harder to create than the timed ones. The timed one's aren't complex, they're just irritating because of the timing part.

Tried to play a couple and well... Just no. Can't fathom why a game that features creativity creates a game type that is just speed build for the targets.

So I have a bit of a more nuanced take on this, maybe because I am more of a manager than a builder (for example I like adapting blueprints that I get from the workshop because they tend to be much better than I can manage). I wouldn't say I like the timed scenarios and I'd probably prefer that they did more non-timed scenarios for the next DLCs or best of all give us a scenario editor so we can create our own and share them. BUT... I will say that I think despite having played through the scenarios on hard, the timed scenarios have probably made me more skilled at the game especially learning creative combinations of animals to house together, being more decisive and adapting faster, working out how much of a critical mass I need to get money pouring in and using elements of the game I might have ignored otherwise.

They aren't my favourite and I understand why especially some parts of the community might want to ignore them completely but they have challenged me and as I sometimes like to get grumpy and frustrated until I get it right it does do a job that no other part of the game does. Also I got a real adrenaline rush when I completed one for gold with only a few seconds to spare!

I don't think I've ever actually played the time scenarios. I've opened them up to copy blueprints because there are some nice builds within, but that's it.

It's probably relating to my anxiety but games with time countdowns tend to be a bit stressful for me.

The thing about griping about the statues is ... Frontier never promised that absolutely everything would always be available for everyone (in, for example, Sandbox) and the argument that we're being cheated out of something we 'paid for' by having them be locked behind the scenarios is silly. We're paying for exactly what Frontier tells us we're paying for. They don't claim you'll get a ton of statues then put them behind the scenarios. They state up front that those statues are rewards for those scenarios. So, in terms of that - we're getting what we paid for.

I couldn't agree more. Would it be great if those statues were available in sandbox? Sure. But they're reward statues. Rewarding for something, thus it's not something that is just given.

I'm pretty frustrated about these locking building features in sandbox mode (fine for other modes, fair people earned them or whatever). I enjoy this game because it's RELAXING. Timed scenarios are anything but. Tried one today and I HATED it! Absolutely the worst experience. Took away literally everything I like about the game and there's no way I'll ever be able to do them in those time limits. You didn't consider non-gamers at all with these.

I enjoyed the career levels for ideas and used them as a tutorial, but now I just want to play sandbox and enjoy the creating and taking care of the animals. I think you should unlock the reward statues for all players in sandbox - it's SANDBOX.

Thanks otherwise, however, for a really fantastic game! This is my ONLY complaint, aside maybe requesting more animals. ;)
The timed scenarious are insanely hard, and I don't think they were included with "non-gamers" in mind. Which is fine, because the overall versatility of the game is impressive and does cater to just about anyone who likes simulators, time/resource management, etc. Of the many many hours I've logged in this game, less than 10% of that has been spent gaming outside of sandbox mode (I've done a couple of the challenges). For me, it's all about building/designing a beautiful zoo that people love to visit and work in. (Rarely are my zoos profitable!).
