Anyone else considering giving Odyssey a thumbs upon Steam, after the last patch?

We've had corny holidays-themed stuff for ages grandpa. No need to pout, I think your favourite TV show is about to go on. Let's have a little looksie shall we? I know, I know, this isn't real music like it used to be but it's just a commercial, it'll pass.

Maaaaaatlock.....!

If it wasn't the case that bit by bit the game is improving noticeably, then i wouldn't have made this post. It isn't just wishful thinking that's making me change my review, it's the intent i'm seeing from the updates as they are coming along, despite it not running as well as Horizons, yet for the first time since Odyssey's release i'm actually starting to see the quality behind it, and regained my belief in the game redeeming itself, i honestly think it's on that trajectory now, and for my own part i feel if isupport it then it makes that outcome more likely.

yeah i'm still angry at the way Odyssey was released, there was no excuse for it, (i think less of Braben than i used to if i'm being honest), but i'd much rather the game didn't die, we are after all fans i suppose, and that's for a reason. The game is capable of unique magical moments i'm sure you've all experienced over the years. I think it would be a shame if we didn't row our oars a bit when we could. Now i'm not saying anyone that can't at least enjoy Odyssey in some way should ever give it a thumbs up, but for me personally i see enough to like now, and to hope for.

Go for it dude - if you feel it deserves it then give it a thumbs up. You don't really need any confirmation from other forumites to decide this, it's how you feel about it that counts.

I think i've finally reached a point where i can play Odyssey to some extent, and enjoy myself to 'some' extent. It's true settlements can still be very choppy, and although i wouldn't like to see the framerates of an all-out ground battle, i actually had a firefight for the first time at a crash sight at around 45 fps, and it was fun. I'm also still waiting for planets to be fixed, but i think 5 months on from that godawful release, the hard work the team have been putting in means i can see light at the end of the tunnel, and they've earned some recognition, like that dreadful Just-for-Men advert, i think 'it's time'. I'll add a caveat on the review that you better have a decent PC to enjoy Odyssey, but for me at least it's finally the moment to push that thumb's up.

Anyone else feel the same? Or are you still holding out? (if you haven't already given it the blue light)
You're kidding, right?

You're kidding, right?
No,whether you agree or disagree, and i see you disagree, i'm not trolling. Update 8 had a fairly good impact on me, with regard to my hope for Odyssey doing a reversal on its release, for the first time in 5 months i believe in it once more. That's not saying i'm getting silky smooth framerates, but i do now feel the game's makers are determined to save it, i wasn't convinced of that before. At the end of the day when you think about it, most of us weren't p***ed off about the 30 quid, we've lost that at a urinal on a night out, i was angry about what had happened to a game i really liked. I feel cautiously optimistic now.

After seeing Halloween pumpkin helmets in the Odyssey store I'm not sure I recognize the game. I don't have Fortnite in Steam library, sorry.
I just had a look (due to the image on the launcher, I thought it was a joke) and yeah, bobble heads are one thing but pumpkin outfits? Cringe.

Also, since content is largely the same still (i.e. missing/incomplete/buggy), performance and visuals still a downgrade from Horizons, and cosmetics still largely missold (in EDO), I wouldn't be able to recommend this with a clear conscience.

Same feeling than OP here. But finally I'll give them thumb up if Patch 9 is good. I don't wanna go too fast and get Frontier too excited.

Until they find themselves again, and the true spirit of elite which in odyssey, isn't apparent, becomes 1st n foremost, namely exploration, piracy, smuggling, & pvp all which are still broken, then I'll refrain from any meaningful review

Oh, I'm definitely giving them a thumbs up for that.

Didn't you know?? Elite has always been serious, po-faced, mirthless, straight-laced experience devoid of such normie concepts as humour and whimsy.

I tried 8, it was not an improvement as far as I could tell.
So no, I wont remove my bad review, as I said in the review Ill change it to a good review when the state of the game reverts to pre odyssey performance.

No chance I'm afraid, Frontier's strategy of always releasing unplayable buggy stuff comes at a cost.
This is the latest trend unfortunately. I've seen this happening in many games.
For me it's still thumbs down anyway. I don't like the combat and illegal approach of the contents. Exploration contents demonstrate a clear disinterest for this area of the game. No new mining contents at all too.
Planetary tech is disappointing and far from what was shown in the initial trailers.
All places where you can walk feels they're all the same. AI is not smart enough for an interactive fps where you should have allied too instead everyone turns aggressive very easily.
No new ships (panther clipper) and no new contents for the space ship game loops.

I can live with poor performance when the content is interesting enough to hook me into the game. I'm happy for the people that can now enjoy the game because the performance is improved but for me this is not the point about Odyssey fiasco.

fixing bugs is nice and all, but it doesn´t make the core of the dlc any better.
a review is not only about the technical side, but about gameplay, too.
so i will either delete or change my negative review in the future,
but i really can´t see me recommending this.

Until I can upgrade my Artemis Suit without combat or illegal activity, my review will stay negative.

Upgrades after G3 and including Engineering.
