State of the Game

you sure? In the AXI Finance Friday events they encourage players to get a shot on the Hydras and Bassis, There's normally around 5 wings but no matter which wing gets the final kill you still get the full bounty. They take down Cyclops's in around 15 seconds lol

Why didn't you overheat the ship to burn off the caustic when you were leaving? Would have taken some module damage, but not worth talking about.
AFMU will also repair your canopy. As RC says as you're running shieldless there's no negative to running silent running and pop off a few gauss to overheat and burn off the effect. Then heatsink to cool. The decontamination limpets are not really necessary unless you feel you need them. Try stagger firing your gauss 2 - 1 (in your case) on each trigger will also help to keep your heat down.

Also try doing this to the gankers, I find it helps...

Ok you two, if I was perfect, there would be no point in playing...LOL

Honestly though, I don't think very fast and I'm continuously "remembering" after the fact that I should have done something different. I live with it.

But you're posts are full of useful advice that I may or may not take...thank you both.

Always thought a single shot at an enemy allowed you to share the bounty not steal it?
only in a wing.
If you hit an enemy at least once and they subsequently go down, you get credit (the combat bond) no matter who (NPC or CMDR) landed the killing shot. There are instances of this in the video...

In a wing, you share bounties with your wingmates whenever any one of the wing members is in on a kill and you are in the same instance.

EDIT: Replaced "bounty" with "combat bond" in a one place to make my statement accurate...

If a non-winged player takes out the ship, then they should get the full bounty. That's how kill stealing has worked from day 1. So unless a fairly recent (last year or so) patch changed the behavior, then that's how it still works.

Ender, I found one of your commercial fermentation products in the supermarket just now.

And I didn't feel weird squatting to take a picture of this.

i dont get it... what's the funny part? we've not established me as having anything todo with fermentation, overpriced organic / raw foods or having a live mother or some proclivity for apples or weird apple cider vinegar fads.

Also, recently I got a bounty of 375,000 credits for getting in shield shots on an NPC pirate from within my T9 when the po-po finished him off...

as for bounty sharing in wings ...well it looks like the logic of that was changed a while ago... so if you're in the wing you dont even need to hit the ship.. just exist in the same instance

Shows how long i've been in a wing for combat.

combat bonds aren't the same as bounties. I believe i'm referring to the behavior of bounties rather than combat bonds.
Well you may be right then. Unless someone has more experience with this and can add to it. I certainly don't, although you did say CZ's I'm the one who mistakenly said called them bounties not combat bonds

kill stealing as i'm describing only happens between humans. an npc can take the last shot and it wont matter.
Mostly when doing combat with other humans I'm winged up with them...so if there's a difference, then I've never seen the occasion or had the situational awareness of it happening that way...

Yes, wings have bounty voucher sharing (every wing mate gets the full bounty) and trade dividends (wingmates get 5% of sellers profits). Both require being int he same instance where the kill/profit was made.

And when doing wing missions (bounty hunting) all wingmates get the full mission reward upon completion and full bounty vouchers for all kills.

As Athlon said, combat bonds (NPC Human or NPC Alien) in wings require a minimum of a single landed hit by the wing mate for them to get credit once the kill is made.

I used to have it happen fairly frequently (as frequent as one comes across another human in open can ever be) in Res sites. Just two people randomly killing guys in the same place is never a good combination. One has to leave or force the other to leave or join a wing. I preferred to make them leave (this was before full bounty sharing in wings - the best you could hope for is half )

in any case, pretty sure kill stealing is where the usage of the term ganker came from when being referenced in this game (kill stealing used to be a thing authority npcs were known for - which happened far more often than random human stealing). Then it got misused

ganking is a term for stealing. Getting shot for no reason by a human is not being ganked. pvp is something you have to specifically opt into it even being an option, much less pick being in a place where it's ever likely to happen. There are no innocent pvp victims, so nothing is stolen, only offered.

Seven quid for just under a pint of hipster cider vinegar! So wild guess - this was in Waitrose, right?

Nearly, it was sainsburys, so I was a sore thumb in there until I got to the booze aisle.

I think if it was BH it was probably Bargain Booze ;)

How dare you - sainsburys wine boxes are excellent value. Especially when stolen.

Security usually aren't a fan of people creeping about on their knees taking of pictures of willy's in Tesco.

They know my 'choices' so normally let me get on with it if there are no kids around....

As usual, looks like ender missed the joke....

Ganking:

Before I purchased ED, I read a few articles about ganking in ED and other games, that being players (the ganker) steamrolling other players (the victim) who has 0 chance of successfully fighting back due to a large disparity in equipment (ship/weapons/modules) at their disposal and skills.

This is how I use the word and understand that most, if not all, others use it the same way.

But, apparently, one's mileage may vary...
