Bitchin isn't necessarily downing ED!

Full Disclosure: I've purchased ED for my PS4. Xbox and of course my PC. I missed out in the Founders Opportunity so in my own way supported FD as best I could just like the Commanders who have ponied up for more than one account - well done you guys - I've dabbled in Console flying very badly - I'm all thumbs and thumbs for console operations but I'll give it a go every now and again. FD, I'm a Fan.....but if something is irritating the hell out of me, I reserve the right to say so, just as you reserve the right to tell me to off!

As I've said in another Post, I loved (still do) Horizons. I purchased Odyssey and await a more satisfied Player Base before I load it up. I've just returned after serious illness, playing Games seemed quite distant, but I'm easing myself back in and am raring to go.

I purchased a Brand New Set-Up mainly influenced by Elite Dangerous. My old and trusty i7 and 1070 Rig along with the Oculus Rift is going to a beloved Nephew for recycling - he'll get another couple of years out of it all hopefully. He's intending loading up ED from his GamePass Subscription. Another fledgling Commander joining the Game.

FD your Product encouraged me to pony up for an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and an EVGA 3090, 32Gb Corsair Ram and the fastest 2Tb Corsair NVMe I could get my hands on. (All put together by SCAN Computers to my spec - thank you lads) I finished this off with a Valve Headset and Virpil CM3 Throttle and Constellation Stick...... all in, Mr Braben's Baby nagged away at me to spend about £6k. I'm a happy commander working my way through refining Control Settings for my New Kit, once I manage to re-acquire the muscle memory (previously used CH Products) I'll foray into VR Flight in Horizons.

My "bitchin"... I will happily take the Atmospheric Planets and any enhanced graphics you're offering, but in Horizons if that's possible. If not because of eventualities...can I choose NEVER to do any Foot Missions or have to leave my ship or SRV for any reason? You guys who want it all, I hope everything works out for you to meet your gaming expectations. But, isn't there room in all that you have, and remember I've bought the same as you, for me to get a sub-set that ticks all the boxes I require to have FUN?

The Galaxy is a big place with plenty of room, isn't Elite Dangerous big enough for all of us?

Fly well, have fun and may your Frame Rates never drop below 60fps.

Nobody forces you to leave your ship in Odyssey 🤷‍♂️
Thanks Orodruin/Kamiyoda, I'm willing to give it a go when I recover my muscle memory, I was afraid to jump straight into Odyssey and be placed down a route I personally don't quite want. Read lots of oopses and horror stories on here, just want to do my own thing without impacting upon anyone else.

Sorry about your illness dude. It's cool to see someone recover and jump back in to ED with a whole new kit!

I'm pretty sure Odyssey forced me to do an FPS tutorial mission when I launched it. I forget if I was able to skip it or not.

Virpil is awesome! Check out this thing I made, it might be helpful to you (esp. with getting used to controls):

Pretty sure I read that the ODY tutorial can be skipped with "Esc" key now...

Thanks Mate, will do.

As mentioned by others, you don't have to exit your ship.
I've not done a single on foot mission or entered a settlement since alpha because running about really isn't my thing.

I have found searching for life fun and have wandered about in the stations but that's about it for the legs element. I did manage to kill some blokes running about on a surface but hit them with missiles and ran a couple over with an srv at a crash site!

Give it a go, mate.

Thank You and thanks for taking the time to answer positively.....Fly Well Commander...

I find that the "legs" adds another dimension to the game even if one doesn't do any on foot missions/xenobiology. You can just go on walkabout/driveabout/Apex-about visiting places and not partake in any of the missions madness. The thin atmosphere planets are quite beautiful in most cases at various times of day/location/etc...

Some days, I don't want to fly a spaceship and just want to do something different and switching to foot based stuff in ED is a way for me to do something different without loading up another game.
