Not sure running to Alcor would have been sensible anyway - I'd have run to Colonia. Oh, in fact one of my CMDRs did. From the bubble using a 40 Ly jump range CM3 ... because my long range explorer CM3 was already in Colonia

At least it is ready to get the new FSD fitted next week :)

Edit: It is kinda ironic that explorers always go on about needing long jump range ships, but then won't use then when they have a reason ...

Or they accumulate billions in Explo data which they don't want to sacrifice by suiciding, but ALSO never return to hand it in o_O

Especially now there are FC everywhere - one trip to eddb -> a couple of k trip to dump your finds -> welcome to Asellus Primus.

Exobiology finds are more of an issue now - until we get FC interiors🤞

Ah well, it's not like explorers are the only ones who don't like having to make decisions I guess 🤷‍♀️

It's the LYR power play bonus that'll stop me ever handing in data before getting back to the Bubble. That 3x multiplier is hard to say no to. (I came back from DW2 carrying just short of 20bil in data. Even flying in Fleetcom, every hollow marker on the scanner was a terrifying experience...)

To drag slightly back to topic: I've a cumulative year in time spent in the Black. FDev ain't going to store up the fun stuff until everyone's back home; you have to realise when you leave that you're going to miss things.

FYI commander: you don't lose Bio data in Horizons. Also you don't lose it in SLF deaths, but that's not helpful here.

I had about 20M in Bio data when this CG started. Ran back to the carrier sold the carto data, switched to sidey, then switched to Horizons, did the insta teleport trick back to AY INDI, switched back to Odyssey and sold the Bio data there.

After that completed both CGs and am heading back out into the black later today.

Nice trick

Fair enough, but it's bad game design to force you to make this choice. There are folks out there with billions in exploration data...
It's the opposite of bad game design, unless you think decisions you make having real consequences is inherently bad game design.

By definition, if you're exploring you may be a long way from the bubble, which in turn means you cannot be in the bubble to do things there. Deep space exploration is not a trivial endeavour, nor should it be. I spent the best part of 8 months or so on a roundabout and meandering trip to Beagle Point and back and the first thing I accepted was that no matter what might happen in the bubble during that time, I wouldn't be participating in it because I wasn't there.

If I'd been sitting on billions of exploration data, I wouldn't have done what I did for this CG. I also wouldn't have been moaning about it because I don't expect a game to be designed to allow me to have my cake and eat it.

For God's sake...I don't think I've ever seen a CG end so quickly. I was able to make one run thinking I would be able to do some more the next day because you know, real life kicks in. To go from Tier 2 to complete in like 24 hours is insane. I only got a chance to qualify for the 1mil reward and missed out on the 3 upgraded FSD's. Maybe these will go on sale at one of the traders or engineers in the future.

I was super bummed Saturday morning when I logged in and the CG was already done. It’s outrageous that it doesn’t last to the weekend for people who can’t play weekdays to participate 😢

@Kietrax @sallymorganmoore could you please ask or make the CG events last at least more than 3 days?
In the past when events were rushed by commanders, you would add levels why don't you do this anymore?

How many of us cannot participate in these events because of this?

There are two solutions, either put back this event and allow commanders to participate with equity, or ignore again part of your players.

I have BGS ‘work’ to do for my faction, can we get FDev to pause the BGS while CGs are running so we don’t have to decide what we’d rather do / won’t have PMFs being disadvantaged while their players jump into CGs? It’s only fair.

I bet you'll be able to buy all modules later for mats, spending roughly the same amount of time in collecting/grinding.

I don't think it's necessarily fair to say "why don't you do this anymore" - there wasn't a recent precedent for this type of finish, although it was a little unusual to see the overall total lower than the phase 1 CG. The participation numbers have generally been lower for CG post-Odyssey and they would be very keen for phase 2 (and 3) to complete given that phase 1 did.

For this CG we got 6,007 taking part in Alcor. Compared to 4,199 for phase 1. The rewards are great, but it's very difficult to predict that kind of increase in cmdr numbers.

They don't work on weekends, that's why. Had these CGs survived until monday we'd have maybe gotten 3 more tiers.
