Odyssey and the BGS

XBox player and member of an Xbox-only squadron here. A rolling cast of 10-20 of us grinded out butts off over the last couple of years to take-over our home system and expand to a neighboring one. But Odyssey is delayed indefinitely so we're taking a break from the game.

Log in yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks to find a PC squadron with thousands of members has taken over our home system. A war is in already a "total loss" to lose the last of the stations we had controlled.

Dear FDev. Don't bother porting the game to consoles. None of us are going to pay for it to find ourselves a year behind with all of our stuffs already stolen.

Just acting as devil's advocate here, wouldn't it make a difference though if you had access to cz's on the ground as well as in space surely it would make it easier, genuinely asking here 🤔

Well, if you worked at it really hard, you could slow them down a little but ultimately the much bigger group is going to take over anywhere they want. Diplomacy is your only hope of diverting them elsewhere.

Even putting aside on foot BGS, Odyssey players have more missions available to them at stations, due to improvements to the mission server. There are more missions available at Stations, and in more Systems, if you're playing in the Odyssey client as opposed to Horizons. So regardless of space leg content the Odyssey player has more BGS opportunities available to them.

Not saying it would have a bearing when it's 20vs1000 but, in general, Odyssey players have an advantage in BGS. You won't hear many PC players or Frontier admit it directly, but it's a fact.

OP: have you tried reaching out to them? If they're that big of a squadron they may be willing to concede control to you. They probably thought you were a dormant/zombie PMF - there are plenty of those around.

Yeah not much to do if you are 20 vs 1000....

But I have been playing BGS for a long time now, and there has never been a shortage of influence based missions (that won´t take long) on my mission boards in Horizons, so I doubt that some Odyssey shooter mission lasting from 30 mins to even 1 hour is that much worth than any (short passenger/haul/etc.) missions that Horizon has (or even if Odyssey has more missions available in space, that it would actually matter, as you can do only limited amount of missions at once anyways).

You'd be surprised. I'm playing both at the moment in the same system and it's easier to pick up influence in Odyssey than Horizons. More missions, more mission spread, more systems available. E.g. graphic from the recent Super Cruise News:
