Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Then Texas? From what I remember (which was a while ago) didn't they say the UK was the 'doer' of CiG?

The other possibility is that CiG are maybe taking on another loan perhaps.

But its certainly a gutsy move.

Yeah, Frankfurt is growing, Manchester is growing... but no news about the US offices (plural IIRC).

But i can't imagine CIG downscaling those.

If CIG are currently bringing in $75 million with their gross monetisation of all things Star Citizen, what is it going to look like to bring in $150 million a year?

RELEASE THE KRAKEN... for another ship sale! But this time give it a gold paint job, and make it 10% larger, and a bit more power, and give it a new name, and sell it for a bit more, and say it punches above its weight. The backers will gobble it up!

What do you mean we haven't delivered on the old Kraken or any of its functionality? What's that got to do with anything? Sell another ship!

They have other sources of income, like partnerships. Additional possibility is to go a classic pump-and-dump VC route. This one does not require profitability, only growing valuation.

Maybe CIG have an as-of-yet unannounced deal where they sold another chunk of the company to another third party. Maybe Tencent bought 10% of CIG.

Oh my, now that would be hilarious! Tencent (who have 9% of FD) also holding part of CIG.

There'll be something else involved...maybe some other IP work or something they've been investigating and keeping quiet....or it's a sweat shop to make fake Gucci leopardskin handbags and rip off Nike trainers...always a market for knock-offs in Manchester :D
It's a plan for several years. They think they will release a product "soon" ™ (SQ42) and that the revenue of this product will support the growth of the company.

If that is the case, then its certainly a gamble. First that they will release SQ42 soon... history is not on their side in relation to this happening (and their own roadmap doesn't make it look likely either). Second that it will be a success, another big gamble.

But hey, Chris is going to the UK to help get SQ42 out the door! I'm sure this will really help move things along quicker! /s

Him coming to Manchester has nothing to do with Sqn 404...he's decorating his new office so he can spend another 3 years coding up some of his amazing cloth tech for more cardboard hospital gowns in SC.

First gamble : SQ42 will be released one day. It's a gamble if CIG have absolutely no clue about it.
Second gamble is made by a lot of companies, even some really big companies like Tesla, Virgin Galactic...

We already know Sqn 42 won't be a massive financial success...95% of all the release copies that will ever be sold have been paid for already. It's continued development is pure technical debt, not an asset :)
