Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Lol

Looks like CR decided to up his game and go full Monty AAA style. Like the way C* did back with GTAO. If I didn't know better, I'd swear this is CI's endgame. By not producing a game because it went bankrupt from toxic cost overruns....

Because what -- I don't even.....

Then again perhaps I'm being too cynical. Because he's almost convinced me he's showing good faith in trying to release a game.

Almost....
Roberts thinks you become a AAA developer by replicating the trappings of being a AAA developer; large numbers of people, multiple studios in multiple countries, expensive coffee machines, space doors. He doesn't understand that other companies get to that point by releasing AAA games.

edit: increasingly impossible to believe Mom & Pop Hello Games barely succeeded in crawling out of Oblivion. Bloodied and battered. And yet went on to make one of the best, most feature prolific space games in the industry. With a core crew of TWENTY SIX people...
And yet went on to make one of the best, most feature prolific cowboy game in the industry. With a core crew of TWO THOUSAND people...
Why Rockstar need 2 000 employees to make one cowboy game when other company can deliver a full space game with TWENTY SIX people !!! You don't even have to put fly mechanisms in a cowboy game, just horses !

Helo games went on to make a cowboy game with a core crew of 2000 people?

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is confirmed! LA is from the future!

Now we know we he is so confident and full of predictions! He has already seen the future! He was sent back by the Holy Roberts to let us all know salvation is at hand. That SC will release and it will be good.

Let us all join hands and sing songs about the wonders of AAAAAA gaming development.

And now, CIG will pass the collection plate.

Buy an Idris.

Testicle animations. That's what bloated staff rosters get you. I hear it's also a good game. But that is rather down to the quality of the design team, not the legions of workers.

But C* actually released an actual game to date......

Yes, but they are already spending money for it. So, if it is as you claim, for another IP, they are spending funds they haven't earned yet for SC/SQ42 on another IP.
For now, they are just moving to a bigger building and continue to hire like before, nothing more.
They will certainly not start another IP before SQ42 is released.

So ? Having released a game or not before doesn't change the fact that the scope of RDR2 requires thousand of employees. Same for SC, the scope can't be reached with 26 employees.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

My guess, if they are working on a new IP, they will do it on the sly. And in a few years whip out a flashy demo, say they've been working on it for a year, and now they are going to crowdfund the product. Its going to be a highly ambitious game, never been done before, and they just need your pledges to make it a reality. Here's a store where you can "pledge" for stuff. Don't worry though, it will only need a few million and 2-3 years to release. Chris will give a long speech about how he learned his lessons on SC and this time will be different.

Oo I was just going to say. I was surprised you hadn't pimped the new clouds ;)

They are pretty damn lovely. And I do like the dew-y descent through them as well.

You'll forgive me for enjoying this vid the most of all though:

I just like the way it displays the new bling, while also revealing the sorrier state of some former bling. (The sparser tree count.)

I'm sure these clouds will never suffer the same indignity though ;)
Yup, credit where credit is due, the clouds are great.

That's quite glorious and if I had to choose one thing from SC FDEV should REALLY put in EDO it's this!
I didn't want to mention the new clouds at Microtech in case I upset @Viajero

I'm ignoring 3.15.1 PTU in any case...I'm PTU'd out after 3.14 and 3.15...seems like an entire year of testing in PTU rather than just bimbling about playing the game...If I really wanted that much testing, I'd go sign up for evocati again.

On the subject of transient wealth...I'm down to less than 500 aUEC in 3.15 thanks to a spending spree on ship bits followed by an inglorious death after foolishly having stuck my remaining coin into cargo then crashing on lift-off.

Rule #1, don't alt+tab to type in Discord when flying close to the ground :D
