The Hunt For Theta Seven - You Could Win 750,000,000 Cr!

From the work I have done up to now, its either a map, or coordinates for a particular system, I need further work on interpretation . . .

Is this for Odyssey?
That's the magic
Instead of create real new content, Fdev create things to do outside the game.
You don't need elite to participate, because even after the discovery still nothing in the game.

Extremely inclusive!

Erm - to be fair, it was posted to Galnet first, not here, which is accessible in game. And you could only get the decryption matrix from scanning objects in game too. So apart from the first post in the thread, which was just to remind people to look at the Galnet article, the rest of the "outside the game" information and activity has been generated by the commander comunity, not Fdev.

But yes, nothing in the game so far. But it could be a precursor to some new content on this week's server tick

OH God... I forgot.
They guy who participate and published a book about elite now play NMS because of the elite issues.
:/

Yeah... Let's go back to the eternal grind without story and new things.

Salome ended rather bad.

And "the guy"... well, people can play anything. And they can certainly get bored with the same game after like 8 years.
Especially if they're not commissioned (and payed) to write more fiction

True. The text based stuff, that do nothing new in game play, or boring stuff like "look, a big ship with... More text and no action". These things became a reality in elite. A sea of nothing REALLY happen.
But I think Fdev is in this "mode" until fix the issues, release the console version. Then they will add real new stuff with the lore.
Good one!
Like Guardians and Thargoids on foot.

The possibilities to make this game like no other are huge!

I believe!

But was a nice content!
Much better than infinite loop to get materials or do the same thing again and again. :)
He wasn't the only one who left because of the issues and lack o of content.

Lord God, Not that again.

It's amazing what rose tinted glasses can do. :p

That event caused so much salt there's still a bitter taste amongst some of the community. It was the cause of one of Drew's many 'I'm leaving the game / goodbye tours.'

I much preferred the Gnosis event, once they resolved the problems (i.e. screw up with the Galnet Article and the Megaship firing on their own defenders), I found that much more enjoyable!

Yeah, but then these puzzles would be over in 2 to 3 hours like Colonia Bridge one was.
True, they need to be difficult but in fairness 2 or 3 of days isn't that long either. If they made easier ones then everybody would be in with a chance of solving it. There doesn't even have to be a reward, the reward of being able to solve one myself is reward enough. But it's not frontiers fault I'm the village idiot so kudos to them for the puzzle and the winner.

In case some of you who helped and/or also worked on breaking the code may be interested, I received 750M credits and an in-game message from ACT entitled "Code Breaker Reward" with the following contents:
-----
CMDR Therion Cygni,

Thank you for your recent contribution to decoding the encrypted message. Your assistance is highly valuable and may save countless lives.

A substantial credit reward has been placed in your account as a sign of ACT's appreciation.

For your own safety, I suggest keeping your involvement in this matter to yourself. Theta Group are known to hold grudges.

Clearly I'm not doing very well at keeping my involvement in the matter to myself. Hopefully Theta Group doesn't read this thread! I'm still interested in donating the proceeds to the scholarship charity if that's something FDev can help with. Or maybe I should just start saving up now if there are plans on the horizon (no pun intended) to add fleet carrier carriers to the game? :)

Also, ACT has kindly offered to place me in witness protection (jk), so I'll be off the grid for the next several days (for real).

See you in the black,
CMDR Therion Cygni
