ExoBio, informations on scanned samples

Hello,

Exploration being one of my favorite gameplay, I discovered with hipe exobiology on foot from Odyssey.
I find that really awome!
Now, what I've been saying to myself from the start (of Odyssey) is:
Why don't we have information somewhere about what we scanned?

I mean by that, if for example the game is interrupted (Real life, bug, etc.) while we have scanned, say 2 samples of an organic species, and if we return to the game 1 or a few days later , we do not remember at all the number of samples or the biorace, or even the other previous scans that we have not yet sold!
It is still very problematic!

However, it is very easy to add, as it has been done for the new goods that one carries on oneself, a new container, named for example "exobiology" which would be added like this for example:

and it would also be very nice to know what we have fully scanned.

panel isn't it?

What extra do you want? Though the classifications are slightly different to the scanner I guess.

It doesn't do the partials, but otherwise ...

Don't get me started on how much of a backwards way of implementing that menu it is :)

But, that shows you what you have discovered on a planet, which means that you have to find each planet you have visited. There's also no way of knowing whether it was done since you last sold your organics data or not.
I also can't remember entirely, but I think that gets filled when you scan an organic with the composition scanner (or take one sample). I don't believe you have to have collect three samples, though I may be wrong on that.

I know we can't see which systems/planets we have scanned before we sell the data, which is why I put it secondary as an 'it would be nice to be able to see', rather than a 'I want it' :)

I don't think you really understood my explanation ...
The information in the System map that you describe only appears when you've sold it, it has nothing to do with what I'm asking ...

Exobiology is TERRIBLE. There is no 'progression' only an endless grind of minoir variations. It becomes meaningless after a few hours gameplay. Progression means we need some form of reward. A way to speed the damn grind up. A better sensor? A fastrer sampling? Multiple canisters? Specific quests with rewards for partiuicular species? Anything to improve matters. I've abandoned it for the moment due to this lack. Its as poorly implemented as PowerPlay.

The information on the system map appears as you are scanning the bio and before you sell it, in fact you don't even have to use the hand tool and take samples, you can use the composition scanner in the SRV and it will update the bio info on the system map.

What it doesn't tell you is how much in total you have collected in data for multiple systems, but this is the same with the FSS data so I don't expect that to change. Third part tools can help a lot with scanning bio, like Elite Observatory.

Hi Varonica,

Thank you for your answer.

Indeed I had not noticed that the information of the system board was displayed as soon as the bio was scanned (I knew for the SRV or Ship scan).
But so as you say, the problem is that suddenly it is displayed anyway, even if you have not scanned with the manual sampler: useless for my needs.
So if we summarize the problem is that, as I put it in my original explanation, if for example we scan a race "X" in system A with for example 2 samples, and then 1 week later we come back to the game and in the meantime we left to do some mission in system B for example, so we no longer know the race, nor the number of samples, nor the planet that we had scanned ...

Thanks for the third-party tool, I didn't know about this one ... I will test this ASAP ...

Greetings

Info in the sysmap appears once one sample has been taken, not when the 3x samples are complete so it is not an indication on it's own that a particular plant on that planet has been done, confirmation is currently needed from the on-foot compass waypoint markers which means disembarking the ship & waiting for several seconds for the local environment scan to complete.

A small screen on the bio-scanner itself (or it's cannister) that shows the plant name & number of samples (1/3 or 2/3) would be a useful QoL addition.

As far as bio data currently stored but unsold is concerned, yes I'd like to be able to see that but it is consistent with the way unsold exploration data is handled by the game (which I'd also like to be able to track).

You can tell the number of samples by the number of lights on the canister side, 2 lights is one sample, 4 lights is 2 samples and of course it goes to 6 for 3, but no name unfortunately, that's why I use Elite Observatory, it does all that for me.

Never noticed the lights :) I use the compass as I described.

I don't use external tools though, I'm sure there are lots of workarounds involving external tools (a pen & paper if nothing else) to act as memory aids & I don't think they serve as anything other than another workaround in a suggestion to change the game.
