PSA: Better Trade CG Player Pirates

In the last few trade CG's that I have participated in, I have noticed a grave issue in game. Low quality PVP player pirates.

Now, I don't mind getting interdicted and personally have the credits to rebuy, so that isn't the issue here. Granted, I am saddened that I have been unable to get my tug boat haul paint down to 0% from the rebuys, but even that is minor.

What I'm saying is that these PVP pirates, some may call them gankers, just show up, blow you up, and move on. There are no demands of fealty, money, or goods. There are no grandiose speeches or spectacular shows of force. Just silent swooping in, blowing up, and not even collecting their newly found cargo bounty!

All I'm saying is elevate yourselves pirates. I expect a higher level of piracy from you. Demand your gold and booty, demand a toll for passing through the system safely. I believe in you and that you can be your best pirate self! Even if that version is the one that blows up my space tug boat and leaves.

This has been your space PSA on piracy. Fly safe CMDRs.

Note:This post is meant for a light chuckle or slight shaking of the head. It is not meant to start a riot, political movement, or to swoon Princess Aisling Duval.

Yeah, those aren't pirates. Piracy in Elite as a whole is generally not worthwhile, let alone PvP piracy. So you're just left with those who want to see the explosions.

Sadly piracy is in a poor state. If you try to make the grandiose speeches or demands, people just log out on you while you're typing, or else start boostspamming and leave you in the dust so you have to fly after them (which means no typing). This has led to a lot of former pirates turning to ganking as it's just about the only thing you can do before they log out or wake out.

And because so many people are ganking, victims that get pulled don't run the risk of waiting to see whether it's a ganker or a pirate that pulled them, since waiting to see if their attacker talks will get them killed if it turns out to be a ganker and not a pirate.

And so the cycle continues.

I can see that, you'd almost need to spam the system chat to warn those with your intentions. Since in the heat of the moment, neither will have much time. I have definitely 'tried' to run away, but my boat isn't that fast.

Your comment has inspired me that the next time I'm interdicted by a player I'm gonna immediately surrender and offer up a bribe, aka cargo.

Oh man, an in game voice system would be great for this scenario. No typing, just issuing a demand for cargo and any fun goodies they may have.

Exigeous covers RP piracy a good bit and tells everyone who is listening that having a message ready when you interdict is a MUST.
If the game would offer a bounty reward as high as the rebuys + cargo of killed ships, that would make the whole piracy / bounty hunting cycle gain a bit of momentum and some food for players interested in PVP.
Pirates could RP anyone, Gankers would gank but PVP players could hunt them down for really high rewards, therefore diminishing attraction of ganking and raising interest for real PVP play.

This right here.

As a "victim" (in quotes cuz i actually dont mind most of the time) you HAVE to start boosting/running/turning as soon as you drop, or you just get rammed up the thrusters as soon as -they- drop. i'll try to hang around enough to low wake (depends what im doin at the time) sometimes to make it interesting since i don't actually fight back...and usually get 'sploded up as a result
