State of the Game

I do too. And whether they want to believe it or not it will most definitely be better for them to wait. But, waiting is hard...

I've never been in a position like FDev are now but I imagine making the decisions they have had to make for the last 8 months are hard as well...

And I'm sure there is more than enough "things not being easy" to go around for a while yet...
The simple (and correct) solution would have been for them to have announced what... back during the alpha that "Um, lads we're rapidly realizing this thing is extremely broken, and as such we're not releasing it for anyone until its properly sorted out." I mean, its gotten a lot better as the updates have rolled out, but its still a bit of a dog, and people with high end hardware are seeing it flogged like a racehorse on its last legs. Odyssey, even in its current state, just won't run on consoles and even if it did there's no way Sony or Microsoft would actually allow it.

That aside, the conspiracy theories that the usual suspects are coming up with go beyond the pale.

I'd settle for Taxidermy Fox and Forum Dog - they are our greatest creations!

I could definitely see those hanging either side of the vista genomics office door!

I'd quite like a George gif oh mying outside of something with a very tenuous relationship to innuendo. Perhaps even a trying time egg near the redemption office, or better still the fines one!

I genuinely do feel bad for console players in general, but there are a few of them for whom I hope their Playstations or Xboxes implode.

Honestly, the incessant "are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?" messages from them make me hope Brebus turns the car around and drives home instead of taking them for ice cream.

Same here, but the way they play the bitter martyrs starts to grind after a while.

Richard Nixon's head in a jar? :)

For me it's now running well - in that the FPS are fine, haven't seen it slow to a crawl for a while, and it plays well. Still stresses my gfx card more than I like but it is playable.

And I get that fdev don't like talking about future stuff - well, other than FC interiors and SRVs - but surely by now they should have some update on optimisation (and by extension consoles). Even if it's just 'we have internal console builds - not time to start productionising yet, sorry'. Even excluding consoles there is still the EDH / EDO split on PC which is waiting for the optimisation to be done ... and that hasn't been mentioned either ...

Am I nothing to you?

Oh, its playable. But its still miles away from what I'd expect performance wise. Any other PC game I play, my framerate never ever drops out of triple digits, and those are usually games that are far more graphically demanding/pleasing. Even after all the updates, I'm on anywhere between 40-60 in settlements and that's with me using the bodge job of FSR.

Anyways. This is why cats can't be assassins:

I was including the the lead up to the release. I have difficulty imaging that was an easy decision...
I played the alpha too... But it was really only a sampler of a very incomplete expansion, which, apparently, still has bits to be added before being 'feature complete'...

When referring to EDO, the only improtant bit was May 19th, the rest was virtually just a tech demo (with better tech than release!) to try out some features.

It's looking like maybe fdev's prediction for consoles might turn out correct - ppl just assumed the wrong year .... :)

Have to admit it's totally on brand I mean look at the Horizons update delays.
