I want to land on the earth-like world!

... and in a water world (may be even UNDERwater like in Subnautica), and in all other worlds where we can't land for some reasons. I want to see clouds in the sky, lightning in the clouds, tornadoes etc. I want new landscapes! Give me NEW!!!

So you're definition of 'new' is 'like that other game I can already play' 🤔

I do fear for when fdev finally ship ELW - the demand for it to be 'every other game ever' rather than it's own thing will be deafening. I will call it 'Ship Interiors 2.0' :)

It is a lots of work, but it's a great work, it will worth it.
Actually i don't know FDev's next waypoint on the roadmap. i think It's ends on the Odyssey. Is there any news about further ED development?

They posted a christmas message today, suggest reading that for a start. Anything said by players is entirely speculation, including the ever present DOOOOOOOOOM threads!

+1 for more planet types, maybe not Earth likes but at a minimum, worlds with thick atmospheres, clouds, weather, liquids and flora... It bugs me they spent the last three years sticking an FPS into a spaceship flying game when the foundations aren't even finished.

Its not so much work as it seems. They have the game mechanics and code ready from Dino/Zoo games. For non interaction stuff, its just copy paste. Planetary life would be a great dlc.

They just sold it as a different game.

But why they don't working on it but making carrier interiors?! Everybody needs the carrier interiors nothing else! Primary objective! :cautious:

This would require the Devs to actually create content...so what do you think the chances of this ever happening are, especially in light of the exodus to that other game that must not be named?

It's never going to happen...

This game is going to have no meaningful changes or updates

I was wondering the same, but tbf, any self-respectful company will first try to make profit from something new (planet life) and then add it to existing milk-cows. So for now I am patient but I expect to see rich planetary plant and animal life in ED within the next 2-3 years...IF not it would be big fail cause competision already takes its toll

As people have said it's on the longterm roadmap, given a fair wind, players sticking around, the game making money and all that. I actually think Odyssey 1.0 has got the more complex / game engine parts of implementation installed and out of the way. Scattering trees on the PG surfaces is relatively (relatively) simple .. by comparison to not dropping the ball on tie ups to a BGS people are already playing. If you want to know what the devs and engine are capable of though, check out Jurassic World Evolution (2) .. the behaviours and animations of the (xeno?) dinosaurs are great and the biomes with various weather, wind, snow and water effects included, very pretty indeed.
