State of the Game

You really do have some serious issues...
not really, unless you think a game forum is serious.

The driving need to make your own issues with a game appear to be that of everyone is particularly infantile, why not attempt to be somebody whose emotional development didn't stop at around 5 years old and make your case as an individual, it would not be any less pathetic, but at least would be a mature stance.

the only way what i said about being disappointed is just my issue is if the game isn't a compromise for all players. if it doesn't compromise single player experience to support its mmo aspects. if it doesn't compromise its hardcore gameplay to allow casual players to enjoy it. to name just a few. you can pretend you're not disappointed but what you really mean is that it's a disappointment you can live with - and easily pretend doesn't exist.

I've decided that I'll add a Radeon 6900XT to my shopping list, to accompany the Index... I'm not best impressed with how much they are being sold for, but don't see the situation improving for quite a while (October '22 has been suggested as 'possible') and it would give me some extra GPU power to run Lone Echo 2...

I'd not be surprised if even a 6900xt all but struggles at hitting 90fps in odyssey with a vive index.

Between the index's > 2k resolution and the anti-aliasing issues making subsampling techniques less than ideal... it will be really dependent on fdev getting those optimizations in to really enjoy that setup in elite. Without them, even a 6900 will probably not be able to hit the target except maybe in empty space. But then, you still have horizons to jump back to to get a taste of what VR should feel like in the game. At least until they merge their engine changes in and take that option away.

Valve Index... Vive is

Allowing for your lack of comprehension of Queen's English, the game mentioned I wanted the grunt for is Lone Echo 2, it is slightly more demanding than the first version.

Odyssey runs fine on the 2080 in VR (on the Rift S) and oddly enough, I get exactly the same VR as in Horizons 🤷‍♂️

Similar to Half-Life: Alyx Lone Echo 2 uses adaptive resolution, and the 2080 Super is only mid-range on their listing, so would not be benefitting from the best quality resolution available.

Hi Thistle.
A bit late in the day but here's a few bits and bobs you might enjoy, if you've not already found them.

Usborne type in books as pdf's: https://usborne.com/gb/books/computer-and-coding-books (scroll down for the good stuff to include "write your own adventure" where I got the name xzanfr from)
BBC Microbot (if you tweet it, it'll respond with you program) : https://twitter.com/bbcmicrobot

I've stored tons of acorn stuff in preparation for getting my elk back / buying a master so let me know if you need anything else.

So gents, and Ender, so far our choices are:

John Lithgow
Shaft
Jar jar binks (not really a bad suggestion bender)
The one someone else said earlier that I can't find - I think it was Nemo.

What's the thinking folks (and Ender)?
