Game update: Despite the loss of my fire groups and combat and trade elite progression percentages (you can't take my 100% exploration elite fdev only give me elite +++++'s maybe someday or not) the game continues to run on xbox. My mining was completed this morning with no fragments or materials stuck in any asteroids. It never had that happen before update 9 tbh. Further testing shall commence after lunch.
The mining fragment fix will indeed be a godsend if it turns out to actually work. I got so very tired of suiciding limpets I started collecting stuff manually last time I mined. (It still sucks, btw).

If FDev are going to constantly bring hot fixes out and now a large patch and planets still arnt rendered, why not just scrap the game.
Update 9 has improved my frame rates across the board byt a good margin. I have not, so far, seen any game reported frame rates in red or yellow in the 3 or so hours that I played last night/this morning (planetary, station, port, settlement, concourse, hanger). In fact, I've been able to move the rendering distance slider from about 60%, where I had set it previously, all the way back to 100%.

I'm pretty sure planets are rendered now, as I've seen several in the last 6 months since the OP. Though whether they are rendered correctly or not is still up for debate, I'm sure.

This update has been much much better than any other in terms of performance.

There are a few glitches I've experienced with planetary surface features (rocks, plants, etc...) disappearing/reappearing en masse as I fly over/near them.

I'm waiting for 9.01 so the various bugs identified don't exist before i test.

i imagine that will be early next week

As far as I know, the only issue I've experienced so far is the bug around plant sampling. I finished the last of 5 atmo bodies in the system I was working on. Found two of the three biological and could only sample one of them. The Frutexa defied all attempts and I was unable to locate any of the bacterium over the course of flying 50 m off the ground all of the the surface for an hour...

I have not yet tried:
  • Mining

  • Scorpion

  • Docking at a station where I have ships stored

  • Not sure if there were any other bugs...
And I've delivered 100 tons of the top secret commodities to Felice Navi Dock in the Meene system in support of AEGIS, which have put me squarely in the top 50%, so far.

EDIT: Oh, forgot that I did also experience the empty fire groups issue...
